Thomas Mark "Tom" Horton

December 14, 1952 - March 26, 2024

Thomas M. Horton (“Tom”), 71, of Amarillo, Texas, died Tuesday, March 26, 2024.

Tom was born on December 14, 1952, to L.B. and Jane Horton in San Angelo, Texas. He graduated high school in San Angelo and then became a proud member of the Fighin’ Texas Aggie Class of 1975. He loved being a member of the Corps of Cadets and Parson’s Mounted Calvary while at A&M.

Tom married the love of his life, Cindy, on February 17, 1995. They shared three boys, Brandon Neely, Jacob Neely, and Andrew “AJ” Neely.

He spent his entire professional life after college and military duties in the cattle industry. From being a commodities trader on the floor of the CBOE in Chicago to agricultural lending and risk management of livestock and grains to agricultural real estate, Tom knew every sector of agribusiness and farm/ranch real estate, and he was nationally known and respected for his expertise.

He dearly loved his family (including 10 grandchildren), his friends, his Chicago Cubs, and his Texas Aggies. He was an avid fly fisherman and loved the mountains. However, his love for anything in this world paled in comparison to his love for his Savior, Jesus. Tom had a deep faith that he could not help but share with everyone around him. He exuded joy and contentment in all circumstances.

Tom is survived by: his wife, Cindy Horton of Amarillo; children, Brandon Neely and wife, Erin, of Fort Worth, Texas, Jacob Neely and wife, April, of Allen, Texas, AJ Neely and wife, Holly, of Aledo, Texas; grandchildren, Riley, Logan, Makenzie, Kendall, Wesley, Jackson, Ella Jane, Autumn, Josiah, and Grace; siblings, Lee Horton and wife, Eva, of San Angelo, Texas, Ginna Beausoleil and husband, Luke, of Austin, Texas, Anne Cotner and husband, Bryan, of Boerne, Texas, many beloved nephews and nieces, and extended family.

He was preceded in death by: his father, L.B. Horton, his mother Jane Horton, and his brother, Jimmy Horton.

Visitation will be April 2, 2024 from 6-7pm at Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life will be held on April 3, 2024 at 2pm at First Presbyterian Church of Amarillo.

At the end of his life, Tom bravely battled ALS. In lieu of flowers, memorials/donations may be made to the Team Gleason Foundation.
