David McKnight
November 30, 1950 - October 25, 2023
David McKnight, 72, died peacefully on October 25, 2023, in Fort Worth, Texas. David was born on November 30, 1950, to Alfred McKnight, Jr. and Patricia (Donoghue) McKnight, and grew up on the family farm in Mansfield, where he attended Mansfield High School.
David graduated from Texas A&M University in 1973 and spent much of his adulthood pursuing his interests in land conservation, farming and ranching -- preserving his family's ties to the land since his ancestors' arrival in Texas in the 1830s. A lifelong learner, David pursued knowledge on many subjects, and, in his spare time, learned to fly, traveled extensively, and enjoyed cooking.
David lived for many years in Waco, where he was a member of the First Presbyterian Church. He moved to Fort Worth in February 2023 to be close to his only surviving sibling, Ann McKnight Stevens. In addition to his sister Ann, David is survived by his niece, Teresa Stevens Woodman and her husband, Patrick M. Woodman; his nephew, Gregory B. Stevens and his wife, Marybeth Glasheen Stevens, and nephews Walker M. Young and William M. Young; his great-nieces, Ann L. Woodman, Lillian M. Stevens and Mary K. Stevens; and his great-nephews, William M. Woodman and John G. Stevens.
Should friends desire, memorials may be made to the First Presbyterian Church of Waco, the Texas A&M Foundation Ranch Management Program, or a charity of choice.
