David W. "Dave" Rosberg, Jr. 

December 29, 1947 - January 27, 2024 

David (Dave) W. Rosberg, Jr., DVM was born December 29, 1947. He lost his battle with pancreatic cancer on January 27, 2024. Son of David W. Rosberg, Sr. and Helen Dana (McDonald) Rosberg. Dave grew up in Brazos County (Bryan-College Station) Texas. He graduated from Stephen F. Austin High School (Broncos) in 1965. Married the Love of his life and his forever mate Elizabeth Anne Brannies on April 19th, 1970 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Mason.

Dave graduated Texas A&M University College of Veterinary Medicine August 1970. Practiced Veterinary Medicine in Wichita Falls, Texas August 1970-March 1971. Inducted in U.S. Air Force March 1971 for active duty as an officer in the Veterinary services at Ent Air Force Base in Colorado Springs, Colorado from May 1971-March 1973. Dr. Rosberg had public health oversight responsibilities for facilities in the area, including the Cheyenne Mountain Complex; Air Defense Command Headquarters; Radar sites at Lamar and La Junta Colorado; as well as food services and commissary services at Ent AFB and Peterson Field (flight line location). Dr. Rosberg received the Distinguished Service Military Merit Award upon his discharge from the service.

Dave, Elizabeth and their five-month-old daughter, Amye moved to Mason and began their practice of veterinary medicine at Hill Country Veterinary Hospital on April 1st, 1973. Dave and Elizabeth worked together to serve the community and build their practice. Dr. Dave served on the Board of Directors of the Texas Veterinary Medical Association and was voted Food Animal Practitioner of the year for 1990. He was appointed by Governor Rick Perry on May 27th, 2008 to a six-year term of service on the Texas State Board of Veterinary Medical Examiners. He also served as a practitioner/advisor to the Texas Veterinary Medical Diagnostic Laboratory at Texas A&M University.

Dave loved Mason and the people of our community. He was very thankful for their support and confidence in the veterinary services they provided. He and Elizabeth are so thankful they could raise their four children here, Amye, Alett, Andy and Aaron. Dave loved being with them and watching and participating in their academic and sports endeavors. He loves hunting with his children now his grandchildren. “What great times they’ve had!” Jesus Christ and family were his priorities. Nothing held more importance to him. He loved ranching and trying to leave property and livestock “better than it was.” “Fifty years in Mason has been a wonderful blessing and pleasure in my life, such wonderful family and friends, no man could ask for more”. “Time sure passes fast when you’re having fun!”. On January 30th, 2024, Dave would have had the honor of accepting the Hall of Fame award by the Chamber of Commerce. He was so humbly honored by this award.

Dave is survived by his beloved wife Elizabeth of almost 54 years. Daughter Amye Reynolds; daughter Alett Rosberg; son Andy Rosberg (Brooke); son Aaron Rosberg (Erin); grandsons Davis and Grayson Rosberg; grandson Elisha Rosberg; granddaughter Adrielle Rosberg; granddaughter Paige Reynolds and grandson Jake Reynolds; sister Dana Copus (Cliff); brother sister-in law George & KK Brannies; nieces Melany Canfield (Thom) and Megan Bierschwale (Tommy Mac); many great nieces, nephews and cousins; Aunt Nancy Broach and Uncle Ranney McDonald.

Funeral services for Dave Rosberg will be held graveside at the Gooch Cemetery on Wednesday, January 31 at 2:00 p.m.
