Brad Clinton Dickens, Jr.
October 17, 1944 - October 1, 2023
Brad Clinton Dickens Jr. passed away October 1, 2023. He was born October 17, 1944, in Houston, Texas to Brad & Nell Dickens Sr.
Brad graduated from San Jacinto High and enrolled at Texas A&M University. He graduated in 1967. After graduating from A&M he joined the Army and was in the 1st Cavalry Division. He volunteered and fought in Vietnam.
Brad returned home and took over his father’s butcher business. He ran Guy’s Market in Houston TX successfully for many years. He made many friendships with his customers over the years from your “average joe” to millionaires and famous people that would come to get his great cuts of meat & his custom seasoning. He was also known for his award-winning BBQ and was proud he and his team won Reserved Grand Champion in the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo’s famous BBQ cookoff. He retired and closed shop in 2017. He could not go anywhere without running into one of his customers. Each time they let him know they missed his food and those BBQ burgers that were once mentioned as top burger in Houston in USA Today.
Dad enjoyed many trips to the beauty of West Texas and especially Big Bend National Park. His favorite spot was Santa Elena Canyon. He was able to see it one last time in 2018 with his son. Dad had many friends that will miss him. Especially his son, daughter in law, & granddaughter (Rob, Stephanie & Olivia) that became his care givers later in life.
He is preceded in death by his parents Brad & Nell Dickens & his sister that he loved very much, Linda Dickens.
