Roll Call Tribute

Sherry Jenkins '89 January 23, 2024 4:52 PM updated: January 23, 2024 5:00 PM

Sherry Colette (Eidson) Jenkins

January 16, 1967 - October 11, 2023

Sherry Colette Jenkins, 56, of Garland, TX went to meet her Savior on Wednesday October 11, 2023 at 11:50PM. The most dedicated and loving wife and mother, she is survived by her husband, Clark; her sons Drew, Joel, and Sam; and her daughter Bethany.

Sherry was a graduate of Bryan Adams High school class of 1985 where she was a proud member of the drill team. She continued her education and graduated from Texas A&M University where she loved to line dance with her friends and sing with the Century Singers choir across the country.

While teaching 5th grade after college, Sherry married the love of her life on December 21, 1991 and went on to have her 4 children. After having Drew, she became a full-time stay at home mom and would go on to home school all of her children. She organized groups and fieldtrips for the home school community in DFW while also cheering her kids on in baseball, martial arts, theater, dance, and whatever else they wanted to try.

As her children got older, Sherry decided not to let a perfectly good mini van go to waste and started driving for Uber and Lyft. With her passion for people and desire to show the love of Jesus to everyone she met, she came to absolutely love her job. She gave 10,683 rides in the DFW area over 5 years and would tell her family and friends in person and on Facebook about all the wonderful people she met every day. Her most commonly received compliments from her passengers were on her friendliness by far.

A little over three years ago, she decided that she would return to studying French as she had done in high school. She used duolingo with unparalleled discipline, building a 1,189 day streak and could speak fluently with native French speakers who she would meet in her driving adventures. She would listen to French podcasts, watch French TV shows, and read French books. It was a language she loved and sought to share with as many people as she could.

Sherry sought to above all else be the best wife and mother that the Lord had called her to be. No matter the situation she worked diligently to support and care for her family in any way possible. With an infectious laugh, the most cheerful demeanor, and loving personality, Sherry will be greatly missed until she can see her loved ones again.

There will be a visitation from 6:00-8:00PM Friday October 20, 2023 and a memorial service at 10:00AM on Saturday October 21st, 2023.

Under the direction of Restland Funeral Home.
