Melvin F. Ziegenbein, Jr. 

March 1, 1943 - January 6, 2024 

Melvin Fred Ziegenbein, Jr., age 80, passed away on January 6, 2024. He was born on March 1, 1943, to Melvin Fred Ziegenbein, Sr. and Gladys Schier Ziegenbein in Brenham, Texas. His grandparents were Karl (Charlie) Schier and Emilie Meier Schier of Brenham and Paul Ziegenbein and Melinda Rosenbaum Ziegenbein of Salem.

He attended Blinn College and graduated from Texas A&M University. After serving in the military for two years, he worked for Blue Bell Creameries for 43 years, retiring in 2010.

Melvin married his beloved wife, Karla Jeannine Steger, in 1983. He was a man of God who served his God in his personal and business life. He was active in several organizations such as, but not limited to, The Fellowship of Christian Athletes at A&M and the Dairy Products Institute in Texas. He was a kind and loving father, brother, husband, uncle, and friend. His grandsons were the light of his life and he loved them dearly.

He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents. Survivors include his wife, Karla Ziegenbein, his daughter, Christina Lynn Hazelwood Bolin and husband Travis Bolin; grandsons Blake Bolin, Bryson Bolin, Brayden Bolin; sisters, Shirley Ziegenbein Bowie and husband Marion Joe Bowie, Charlyn Ziegenbein Goodrum and husband Lon Bailey Goodrum; 3 nieces; 7 nephews; and numerous other family members and friends.

A Celebration of Life is planned for January 17, 1:00 pm. at Stonebridge Church in The Woodlands, Texas.
