Robert N. "Nick" McGuire, Jr.

December 26, 1942 - November 11, 2023

Nick McGuire, 80, of College Station, Texas, was freed from the bonds of Alzheimer’s disease on November 11, 2023.

Nick was born in Evanston, Illinois, on December 26, 1942. He was the firstborn of Susan and Robert McGuire, Sr. Nick grew up in Deerfield, Illinois, and spent many wonderful summers in beautiful Door County, Wisconsin, enjoying the waters of Lake Michigan. He attended Highland Park High School and upon graduation became the first in his family to attend the Agricultural & Mechanical College of Texas in College Station, Texas, graduating with an Agricultural Economics Degree in 1964. While attending Texas A&M, Nick made many lifelong friends, especially his wife of 59 years, Frances Jackson, from Cameron, Texas.

Nick spent the first half of his career after college in the insurance industry in Houston, Texas. Eventually, following his heart, he moved back to College Station in 1990 and worked for his alma mater at the 12th Man Foundation until 2003. Nick enjoyed being able to follow his favorite team in many sports - especially football and tennis - frequently traveling to away games with his wife and best friends. He also enjoyed running marathons and volunteering for various student organizations at Texas A&M and Scotty’s House. Nick’s love of everything A&M is carried on through his two sons and four grandchildren, all graduates of Texas A&M University.

Nick is preceded in death by his brother Danny, his mother Susan Paynter, and his father Robert.

He is survived by his wife, Fran; two sons - Daniel (’87) and wife Cheryl (’76) of College Station and Eddy (’91) and wife Shelley of Tyler; four grandchildren – Chase (’16) and wife Rachel of Houston, Cameron (’18) and fiancé Jenny (’16) of Houston, Morgan (’20) of Dallas, and Mason (’23) of Tyler.

The family sends a special word of thanks to the entire staff of Hudson Creek and Enhabit Hospice for their years of loving care. You have all meant the world to our family.
