James Stanley "Jim" Crabbe 

February 2, 1935 - July 30, 2023 

James Stanley Crabbe, also known as Jim, passed away peacefully on July 30, 2023, at the age of 88 in McKinney, Texas. Born on February 2, 1935, in Dallas, Texas, Jim was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend.

Jim is survived by his loving wife of nearly 68 years, Virginia, his son Anthony James Crabbe, his son-in-law Jeff Drazil, grandchildren Ben and Rachel, and his sister and brother-in-law, Carol and Jim Speights, and many other family members. He was predeceased by his daughter, Sarah Suzanne Crabbe Drazil.

Jim attended North Dallas High School and graduated from Texas A&M University with a masters degree and earned his Doctorate from SMU. Throughout his life, Jim was an active member of Stonebridge United Methodist Church, where he and Virginia worshipped. He shared his passion for music by singing in the choir for many years.

Music was a significant part of Jim's life, and he had a special love for percussion. He played the clarinet in numerous bands, including the Fighting Texas Aggie Band. He was also a member of the Hella Temple Band for many years. Up until recently, he was active in the McKinney Community Band.

Jim was a founding member of the Men's Gourmet Group from the late 1960's, and enjoyed cooking and entertaining with friends. Jim was also an avid college football fan and took pride in his alma mater, Texas A&M University. He and Virginia embarked on many adventures together, traveling the globe and enjoying cruises to destinations like Antarctica, Bali, Egypt, South Africa, the Caribbean, Asia and Europe. They also cherished their time spent at Lake Texoma “Jollyville”, creating lasting memories with family and friends.

A celebration of Jim's life will be held on August 19th at 3 pm at Stonebridge United Methodist Church. Friends and loved ones are invited to come together to remember Jim's remarkable life. In honor of Jim, you are welcome to donate to the SPCA or a charity of your choice.
