Gary Don Wheat 

April 2, 1948 - July 31, 2023 

Gary Don Wheat, 75, of Fort Smith, passed away on Monday, July 31, 2023. He was born on April 2, 1948 in Coleman, TX to the late Sidney and Loyce Parker Wheat.

Gary was a graduate of Texas A&M University, he went on to obtain his master’s degree in accounting. Gary worked for Westwood Residential, where he retired. He was a member of St. Leo Catholic Church in Hartford, AR and was a member of the Knights of Columbus.

In addition to his parents, Gary is preceded in death by his sister, Jeane Keas and his brother, Paul Wheat.

He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Phyllis, along with many nieces and nephews.

Visitation and viewing will be from 10:00 am to 10:30 am on Saturday, August 5, 2023, with the Rosary service to immediately follow the visitation, and the Funeral Mass at 11:00 am, all at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Interment will be at Holy Cross Cemetery, arrangements are under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home of Fort Smith.

Pallbearers will be Andrew Davis, Charles Borgerding, Marcus Floyd, Pete Herring, Jeff Herring and Matt Burris.
