Elizabeth L. "Betsy" Smith 

January 25, 1949 - June 23, 2023 

Elizabeth Laverne Smith ‘Betsy’, passed away June 25, 2023 in Pensacola Florida. Born and raised in Coleman, TX, Betsy moved to Austin and received her Bachelor’s degree from UT in 1978.

She continued her education at Texas A&M University, receiving both a Master’s (1981) and Doctorate (1985). Betsy was honored in 2002 as one of 30 Outstanding Alumni of the College of Education.

Betsy moved to Pensacola FL and worked for 20 years at Pensacola Junior College. Betsy built a thriving Career Coach business and led hundreds of seminars.

Betsy’s the co-author of ‘Second Blooming for Women: How to Grow a Life That Matters After 50. She authored ‘The Patient Advocacy Guide’ based on her experiences during her husbands illness and death.

Her friends and colleagues held a Celebration of Life in Pensacola in July.
