Dr. Arthur Phillip "Doc" Dupont 

February 17, 1943 - April 19, 2023 

Memorial Services will be held on Wednesday, April 26, 2023 at 2:00 PM in La Chapelle de Martin & Castille in Lafayette for Phillip “Doc” Dupont, age 80, who passed away Wednesday evening, April 19, 2023 at Plein De Vie Assisted Living Facility in Lafayette.

Inurnment will be held at a later date in Historic Natchez Cemetery in Natchez, Mississippi.

Reverend Gilbert J. Dutel will officiate at the services.

Survivors include his loving wife of 43 years, Paula Buttross Dupont; son, Arthur Phillip "Phil" Dupont II; granddaughter, Ilsa Dupont; grandson, Ethan Dupont, numerous nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by his parents, Willie Dupont and the former Inglis Stafford; sister, Delores Dupont Cormier; two brothers, Ronald Willie Dupont and Gerald Rae Dupont; and one infant sister.

Phillip “Doc” Dupont graduated from Jennings High School in 1964 before attending McNeese State University where he received his bachelor’s degree in animal science. Following his undergraduate education, “Doc” attended Texas A & M University where he received a second degree in animal science as well as his Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine in 1971.

After graduating, he moved to Lafayette where he joined a fellow Aggie Dr. Dave Elston from 1971 to 1974. In 1974, he established Dupont Veterinary Clinic. “Doc” retired from practice in 2018. Phillip will always be remembered for his caring heart and his love for people and pets.

A Rosary will be recited on Wednesday at 1:00 PM in Martin & Castille's DOWNTOWN Location.

The family requests that visitation be observed on Wednesday from 10:00 AM until time of services.
