Board of Directors

The Association of Former Students' Board of Directors is elected each year at the Fall Council meeting and takes office on January 1st of the following year. According to The Association's Bylaws, the Board consists of the Chair the Immediate Past Chair the Chair Elect, and no more than fourteen (14) Directors. In addition to other responsibilities set forth in The Association's Bylaws, the Board, as a corporate body and not individually, shall:

(a) Establish policies and goals to accomplish the mission and purpose of The Association as set forth in the Charter and directed by the Council;
(b) Monitor the strategic planning process;
(c) Monitor the financial affairs of The Association;
(d) Monitor the programs and services of The Association;
(e) Enhance The Association's public standing;
(f) Ensure legal and ethical integrity and maintain accountability to the Council;
(g) Ensure an external financial audit of The Association is performed annually;
(h) Report to the Council at its annual meetings; and
(i) Employ the President.

The Association's Bylaws specify that the Board shall meet four (4) times each year: one meeting per calendar year quarter at times and places as agreed by the Board. Special meetings may be called by (i) action of the Board; (ii) action of the Chair; or (iii) the delivery of a written request of at least three (3) Board members to the Chair.

Shelley Potter '78
Shelley E. Potter '78 serves as the 2009 Chair of The Association of Former Students. She is a landscape architect in association with Jeff Potter Architects Limited in Longview and Dallas. Shelley graduated summa cum laude with a bachelor's degree in Landscape Architecture from Texas A&M University in 1978. As a student, she was chair of MSC OPAS and a founding member of the Chi Omega Fraternity chapter. She currently serves as the fraternity's national vice president and was a delegate to the National Panhellenic Conference from 2000 to 2004. Exemplifying community service, Shelley's resume includes numerous civic boards such as the Longview Planning & Zoning Commission and Smart Growth Task Force. A member of the American Society of Landscape Architects and former park planner for the city of Longview, she served as President of the Junior League of Longview and President of Longview 2020 Forum. Shelley was elected President of the Deep East Texas A&M Club in 1995, a position preceded by her service as Vice President for Fundraising. From 1997 to 2004, Shelley acted as the Area 30 Representative for The Association of Former Students before being elected to The Association's Board. While on the Board, she chaired the Constituent Network Task Committee and the Building Enhancement Task Committee. Shelley and her husband, Jeff '78, reside in Dallas.


Shariq Yosufzai '74
Shariq Yosufzai '74 of Oakland, CA serves as The Association of Former Students' 2009 Chair Elect. He graduated from Texas A&M with a bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering. He was honored as both the Outstanding International Alumnus and a Distinguished Alumnus of Texas A&M University in 1999. Shariq is President of Global Marketing for Chevron Corporation where he is responsible for Chevron's worldwide marketing in 70 countries, under three brands: Chevron, Texaco and Caltex. Prior to assuming this post, he was Co-President, Chevron Products Company; President, ChevronTexaco Global Lubricants; Corporate Vice-President and President, Lubricants and New Business Development, Caltex Corporation; Corporate Vice-President for Africa and Corporate Business Units for Caltex Petroleum Corporation and President of Texaco Lubricants Company. Shariq has served on the management committee of Star Enterprise (then a joint venture company of Texaco Refining & Marketing (East) Inc.) and Saudi Refining Inc., a subsidiary of Saudi Aramco. He was also Chairman of the Board of Caltex Lubricants Lanka Ltd. and a member of the board of directors of Caltex Australia Ltd., both publicly traded companies. Shariq was elected a fellow of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE) in 2002. He was awarded The Robert L. Jacks Memorial Award by the American Institute of Chemical Engineers Management Division in 1995 and named Lubricants World magazine's ‘Person of the Year' in 1996. A dedicated volunteer, Shariq currently serves on the board of directors of the California Chamber of Commerce and the San Francisco Opera. He has served on various boards including the Houston Grand Opera, Jesse H. Jones School of Business at Texas Southern University, the Chick-Fil-A Peach Bowl in Atlanta, Junior Achievement of Southeast Texas Inc., the Greater Houston Area Recycling Council, and Texas A&M's College of Science Advisory Council, and as Chair of the Societal Impact Operating Council of AIChE.


Hal Hornburg '68
General Hal M. Hornburg (USAF, Ret) '68 of Fair Oaks Ranch, TX serves as The Association of Former Students' Immediate Past Chair.? He is the former Commander, Air Combat Command, at Langley Air Force Base, Virginia, where he was responsible for more than 1,000 aircraft and 100,000 active-duty military and civilian members. Hal graduated from Texas A&M University in 1968 with a bachelor's degree in Finance.? In addition, he is a graduate of the Air Command and Staff College; the National War College; and Seminar XXI, Foreign Political and International Relations, Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Hal has commanded at all levels–flight, squadron, wing, numbered air force and twice at major command. He also commanded a composite fighter wing during Operation Desert Storm and directed air operation over Bosnia, commanded the Joint Warfighting Center, served on the Joint Staff and directed operations at Headquarters U.S. Air Force. Hal has served as a Tactical Air Command's F-15 demonstration pilot for the East Coast, as Air Force Liaison Officer to the U.S. Senate and as Chief of the Air Force Colonels' Group. Since retiring, he has established a consulting business and sits on several boards, many of which are non-profit.? A trustee at Southwest Research Institute in San Antonio, Hal serves on the Board of Advisors of Sierra Nevada Corporation and the Camber Corporation as well as on the Board of Directors of Fisher House, Inc. and the Armed Forces Benefits Association. He and his wife, Cynthia, have two sons, Major Chris Hornburg, USAF, and Major Kevin Hornburg, USAF.


Porter Garner '79
Porter S. Garner III '79 of College Station, TX is the President and Chief Executive Officer of The Association of Former Students, one of the largest and most respected alumni associations in the nation. He graduated from Texas A&M University in 1979 with a B.B.A. in Marketing and began his career with Hughes Tool Company before joining The Association's staff as Field Director in 1981. After nearly 18 years of service to The Association, Porter was unanimously elected as Executive Director by the Board of Directors in January 2000, making him only the sixth professional in this position in The Association's 130-year history. Today, he is leading initiatives to achieve The Association's vision to become the premier alumni association and enhance Association services and broaden the organization's reach and relevance to the worldwide Aggie Network. Now as President and CEO, Porter serves as a non-voting member of The Association's Board of Directors and Executive Committee, working closely with the Board to ensure that donated funds are used in the most efficient and effective ways to benefit Texas A&M and the Aggie Network. Under his leadership, The Association has provided over $40 million in support to Texas A&M University. In addition, he has led The Association's fundraising efforts to raise over $15 million towards the enhancements to the Clayton W. Williams, Jr. Alumni Center. Porter is a member of the Council of Alumni Association Executives, the Self-Governing Alumni Forum and the Council for Advancement and Support of Education. In addition, he serves on the Board of Stewards for Christ United Methodist Church in College Station. He is a past president of the March of Dimes and served on the Board of Directors of the Brazos Valley Rehab Center. Porter and his wife, Lisa '91, have three children, Claire, Callie and Porter IV.


Kamal Ariss '83
Kamal Ariss '83 of Houston, TX graduated from Texas A&M University in 1984 with a bachelor's degree in Engineering Technology and went on to earn a master's degree in Land Development in 1987. He is a founding father of the first chapter of Texas A&M's Beta Theta Pi Fraternity. Kamal has managed the planning and construction of many large national projects in his 25 years of practice. Actively involved in his community, he serves on the boards of directors for the Rosenberg-Richmond Chamber of Commerce, The Oaks at Briargrove and the Greater Fort Bend Economic Development Council. In addition to serving as President of the Briargrove Elementary PTA, Kamal is a member of the National Association of Industrial and Office Properties, Construction Owners Association of America, and CoreNet Global. A member of the Houston A&M Club, he has remained active with Texas A&M University over the years. A member of the Chancellor's Century Council and the A&M PAC, Kamal served The Association of Former Students as a Representative at Large prior to his appointment on the Board. Kamal and his wife, Traci, have two children, Conner and Maya.


Sue Bailey '78
Susan "Sue" Rudd Bailey, M.D. '78 of Fort Worth, TX received a bachelor's degree in Medicine from Texas A&M University in 1979 and graduated with honors from the Texas A&M College of Medicine in its charter class of 1981. She is a member of Alpha Omega Alpha. Sue served as an associate consultant in the Department of Pediatrics at the Mayo Clinic and was an instructor in the Mayo Medical School prior to moving to Texas in 1988. She is an allergist in private practice at Fort Worth Allergy and Asthma Associates, LLP, and is board certified in pediatrics as well as in allergy and immunology. Sue is a distinguished fellow of the American College of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology and is a fellow of the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology and the American Academy of Pediatrics. She was appointed by then-governor George W. Bush to the Board of Regents of The Texas A&M University System from 1999-2005 and chaired its special committee on health affairs. She has held many leadership positions in the Texas Medical Association (TMA) and recently completed her term on its Board of Trustees and as the Speaker of the House of Delegates. She has served on the Board of Regents of the American College of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology and currently chairs its Publications Committee. Currently chair of the Texas delegation to the American Medical Association (AMA), Sue has represented the TMA in the AMA House of Delegates for 12 years and was elected by the HOD to the AMA Council on Medical Education in June 2004. Locally, Sue is an elder, a member of the board and sings in the Chancel Choir at University Christian Church. She is the mother of two sons, Michael Wynn and Stephen Wynn '10, and is married to W. Douglas Bailey '67.


Jorge Bermudez '73
Jorge A. Bermudez '73 of College Station, TX is the former Chief Risk Officer of Citigroup. Prior to this appointment, he served as Chief Executive Officer and President of the Commercial Business Group in North America, as well as Citibank Texas. Jorge graduated from Texas A&M University in 1973 with a bachelor's degree in Agricultural Economics and went on to receive a master's degree in the same field. During his 30-year career with Citibank/Citigroup, Jorge also held the following positions: Chief Executive Officer of Citigroup Latin America; Executive Vice President and Head of Global Cash Management and Trade; President of Citibank Argentina and Head of the South America Division; Head of Credit Policy and Risk for International Banking; Head of Risk for the Corporate Banking Division in North America. In addition, Jorge serves on the board of directors of The Council of the Americas and The America's Society. He has served on the following boards: Citibank, N.A.; Citicorp USA; MasterCard International, LAC; Asociación De Bancos Argentinos; FEMSA Group (Mexico); Siembra Group (Argentina); the Nortield Children's Center; and was Chairman of the New York Clearing House Steering Committee. Volunteering his time to Texas A&M University, Jorge is a member of the International Board as well as the development councils for the Mays Business School and College of Agriculture and Life Sciences. He is also a sponsor of the Aggies on Wall Street program. Jorge and his wife Denise have four children, Jorge II, Andres, Elena and Antonio.?


Otway Denny '71
Otway B. Denny, Jr. '71 of Houston, TX earned a bachelor's degree in Political Science from Texas A&M University in 1971 and a Juris Doctorate, cum laude, in 1973 from Baylor Law School. In addition to being a member of the Corps of Cadets and the Ross Volunteers while at Texas A&M, Otway served as Chairman of the Fish Camp Committee and MSC Leadership Committee. In 1973, he was admitted to practice law in Texas. He has been a Partner in the Houston office of Fulbright & Jaworski L.L.P. since 1981 and has litigated numerous cases in state and federal courts. Included in Who's Who in America, Who's Who in American Law and The International Who's Who of Product Liability Defense Lawyers, Otway has been selected for The Best Lawyers in America and "Texas Super Lawyers." He has also been ranked among the top attorneys in "Litigation: General Commercial Practice Field in Texas" according to Chambers & Partners, USA. Otway is a past president of both the Houston Bar Association and the Houston Young Lawyers Association. He is Past Chair of the Board of Directors of the State Bar of Texas, Past Chair of the Board of the Houston Bar Foundation and Past Chair of the Board of Trustees of the Texas Bar Foundation. Otway is a fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers, an advocate of the American Board of Trial Advocates and a Sustaining Life Fellow of the Houston and Texas Bar Foundations. Otway served as a Class Agent from 1971–1991 and currently serves Texas A&M University in a number of volunteer capacities, including the Corps of Cadets Development Council, the College of Liberal Arts Development Council and the 12th Man Foundation's Advisory Board. He was named ‘Lawyer of the Year' by the Texas Aggie Bar Association in 2001. Otway and his wife, Bonnie, have three daughters, Amy Denny Stuber '97, Lisa '98 and Stacey.


Kathleen Gibson '81
Kathleen M. Gibson '81 of Dallas, TX graduated from Texas A&M University with a degree in Agricultural Economics and also attended school at Southern Methodist University in Oxford and in Russia. She joined Citi in November 2006 as Head of Citibank Texas Commercial and President Citibank Texas. Kathleen was named President of the Central Region, Commercial Banking, in 2007. Prior to joining Citi, she spent 25 years with Bank of America and its predecessor banks where she held various leadership roles in corporate banking, commercial banking and asset management. She ran the Southwest Strategies and North Texas Commercial businesses for Bank of America from 2003 to 2006 and served as President of Bank of America, Dallas during that time. From 2000 to 2003, Kathleen held various roles in private banking and asset management including Dallas Market Executive, Southwest Region President, National Trust Executive, and Asset Management Group Risk Executive. From 1998 until 2000, she was Managing Director responsible for the Southwest Diversified Industries Group for Banc of America Securities. From 1991 until 1998, Kathleen had responsibility for Cross Border Structured Finance and Project Finance origination activities in the Western U.S. During the ten years prior to 1991, she held lending and management positions within the Corporate Bank with various assignments managing corporate clients in the southwest, midwest and west coast regions. Kathleen is active in her community, currently serving on the Board of Directors for the Children's Medical Center and the Greater Dallas Chamber of Commerce. She is a member of the Board of Trustees of the Southwestern Medical Foundation as well as a member of the Dallas Committee on Foreign Relations. Kathleen enjoys speaking on the Texas A&M campus and is privileged to serve on the Advisory Council for the Center for International Business Studies. Her accomplishments were recognized by Texas A&M's Department of Agricultural Economics in 2003 when she was inducted into the Tyrus R. Timm Honor Registry. Kathleen and her husband, Robert, have two daughters, Catherine and Sarah.


Bob Harvey '77
Robert W. "Bob" Harvey '77 of Houston, TX graduated from Texas A&M University with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. While a student at Texas A&M, he served as Commander of the Corps of Cadets as well as Student Body President. Following graduation, he went on to earn his MBA from the Harvard Business School. Bob is President of RWH Ventures LLC, a company he formed in 2005 to invest in the energy and environmental technology sectors. From 1999 to 2005, he served as Vice Chairman and Executive Vice President of Reliant Energy, Inc. At various times his responsibilities included oversight of the company's European power generation and trading subsidiaries, its interstate natural gas pipeline business, its domestic retail marketing business, and its wholesale power generation and marketing business. From 1982 to 1999, Bob was a management consultant with McKinsey & Company, Inc., specializing in corporate and business unit strategy and organization effectiveness for a wide range of energy industry clients. A community volunteer, Bob serves as Chair of the Board of Trustees for the United Way of Greater Houston and is on the Executive Committee of the Board of Directors for the Houston Technology Center. In addition, he serves on the Board of Regents for the Concordia Theological Seminary in Fort Wayne, Indiana, which is one of the two seminaries of the Lutheran Church – Missouri Synod. Bob has remained close to Texas A&M over the years by serving on various committees and advisory boards including the Chancellor's Century Council, the President's Vision 2020 Advisory Council, the Corps of Cadets Board of Visitors, and the Vice President for Student Affairs Development Council. He served on the Texas A&M Foundation's Board of Trustees from 1999-2006 and as Chairman in 2003. In addition to serving on Texas A&M's Vision 2020 Executive Committee, Bob served as Vice Chair of the recent One Spirit One Vision Capital Campaign which raised over $1.5 billion. Bob and his wife, Vicki '79, have three school age children, Michael, Tom, and Mary Elizabeth.


Mike Havel '76
Michael J. "Mike" Havel '76 of Dallas, TX graduated from Texas A&M University with a bachelor's degree in Industrial Technology in 1976. He is President of Metro Custom Plastics, Inc., a plastic injection molding manufacturing company located in Arlington, Texas. Metro Custom Plastics was honored with the Mays Business School's Aggie 100 Award in 2005, 2006 and 2007. Mike is a retired Captain in the United States Army Reserves, Corps of Engineers. As a student, he was a member of the Corps of Cadets and the treasurer of the Class of '76. He served as a Class Agent for the Class of '76 from 1976–1981 and again from 2001–2006. Prior to serving on The Association of Former Students' Board of Directors, Mike was a member of The Association's Constituent Network Task Committee as well as the College of Science Advisory Board. He is a recruiter for Texas A&M University's Corps of Cadets and has served on the Corps Development Council. In addition to his service to The Association and Texas A&M, Mike, an Eagle Scout, has volunteered as a scout master and district representative for the Boy Scouts of America. He has been an active volunteer within the Richardson school system as well as his church. Mike and his wife, Kathy, have two children, Christy '03 and Andy '05 who is a Class Agent for the Class of 2005.


David Heath '76
David A. Heath '76 of Austin, TX was a National Merit Scholar and graduated cum laude from Texas A&M University in 1976 with a bachelor's degree in Health and Physical Education, and earned a master's degree in the same field in 1979. He was Texas A&M's first full-time assistant athletic trainer and was later named Head Athletic Trainer for all men's and women's sports within the university. David spent eight years with Adidas before joining Nike as a regional apparel sales manager in Dallas in 1990. He directed Nike's U.S. territory sales, managed the U.S. equipment division and directed commerce in the Americas region before he became Vice President for U.S. Sales in 2004 where he led the wholesale business of Nike branded footwear, apparel and equipment sales. In February 2007, David was promoted to Vice President for Global Sales where he is responsible for over $16 billion in sales revenue in the four global operating regions. He oversees global HR planning for the entire sales organization, as well as designs and implements all go-to-market strategies to interface with wholesale customers. His primary day-to-day focus is on the United States, United Kingdom, Japan, China, India, Russia and Brazil. A community volunteer, David has been active with the Boy Scouts of America for many years and has held numerous volunteer positions in the Texas and Oregon areas. Having served on various corporate executive boards and being a Habitat for Humanity volunteer, David has twice hosted the "How to Interview with Corporate America" session with Texas A&M University's Mays Business School MBA students and is a regular Executive Professor. A third-generation Aggie, David followed in the footsteps of his father, James A. Heath '40 and two great uncles who graduated in the 1920s. He and his wife, Andrea, have two sons, Joel '05 and Todd '07.


Scott Kleberg '80
Scott M. Kleberg '80 of Fort Worth, TX is a principal and co-manager of CA Partners LLC, an investment firm specializing in the hedge fund asset class. He is also the President and Founding Principal of Private Equity Partners, a private equity investment firm in Fort Worth. Scott graduated from Texas A&M University in 1980 with a bachelor's degree in Range Science. He later graduated from Stanford University Graduate School of Business with a master's degree in Management. From 1990 to 1996, Scott was an investment analyst, portfolio manager and vice president for Luther King Capital Management. Before that, he spent six years in various managerial capacities at King Ranch, Inc. In addition to serving on numerous corporate boards, Scott has volunteered his time with several non-profit organizations through the years, serving on the Board of Directors and Executive Committee for the Texas and Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association, the Board of Directors of the Southwestern Exposition and Livestock Show in Fort Worth, the Board of Visitors of the Amon Carter Museum and the Board of Trustees for Trinity School for Ministry in Ambridge, Pennsylvania. He also has served as a trustee, committee chair and president of the board of trustees for the Fort Worth Country Day School.


Linda LaMantia '82
Linda LaMantia '82 of Laredo, TX graduated from Texas A&M University with a bachelor's degree in Management. As a community volunteer, she has been very active in many organizations in the Laredo area. Linda serves as Committee Co-Chairperson for South Texas Academic Rising Scholars where she has helped raise over $9 million in scholarships in the last five years. She was helpful in organizing this 501(c)(3) charitable organization and has a lead role in planning and executing its annual fundraisers. In addition, Linda helped raise over $250,000 in scholarships for the South Texas Hispanic Scholarship Fund. She serves as Chairman of the Board of Directors for the Region One Education Service Center. She also serves on the Board of Directors for the Children's Advocacy Center of Laredo and Webb County, the Laredo Center for the Arts, and the Laredo Country Club. Linda has served on the Board of the Washington's Birthday Celebration for many years and was the 2005-2006 President for the 109th Celebration. She has held numerous positions with Laredo's Society of Martha Washington and Women's City Club. She, along with her husband, Steve '81, is a member of the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem. Linda is a member of the Council for Excellence in Women's Health at The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio as well as the Laredo A&M Club, Mister South Texas Selection Committee, Caballeros de la Republico del Rio Grande, and Laredo Art League. She and her husband have five daughters, Annie '08, Morgan, Katie '10, Samantha '12 and Molly.


Jennifer Lindsay '88
Jennifer S. Lindsay '88 of San Francisco, CA is a principal with KPMG LLP and leads the forensic practice for KPMG's Silicon Valley office in Mountain View. She advises clients in the electronics and software industries regarding regulatory compliance and assists them in mitigating and investigating fraud and misconduct. Jennifer graduated from Texas A&M University with bachelor's degrees in Economics and Aerospace Engineering and earned a master's degree in Economics from Stanford University in 1992. Jennifer joined KPMG LLP in 1994 in its forensic practice. A volunteer within her community, she serves through her connection with Involve, KPMG's national volunteer program. She also volunteers in her church, The Church of the New Jerusalem, as treasurer of the San Francisco congregation and as a board member of the denomination's theological school - the Swedenborgian House of Studies at the Pacific School of Religion in Berkeley. Jennifer was a member of the Alpha Delta Pi sorority while a student at Texas A&M University and has supported the University of California, Berkeley chapter as a volunteer for several years. An active member of the San Francisco Bay Area A&M Club for over 15 years, Jennifer has served as President, Vice President of Finance, and Muster Chair. Prior to her appointment to The Association of Former Students' Board of Directors, Jennifer served as a National Representative from 2001-2007.


Paul Stafford '90
Paul K. Stafford '90 of Farmer's Branch, TX earned a bachelor's degree in Political Science from Texas A&M University in 1990 and a Juris Doctorate from Texas Tech University School of Law in 1994. He is licensed by the State of Texas and in the Federal District Court – Northern, Eastern, and Western Districts of Texas. From 1994 to 1998, Paul served as an Assistant District Attorney, first in Denton County, followed by service in Dallas County. While in Dallas, he served as a felony prosecutor in the Organized Crime Division. Paul is currently proprietor of The Stafford Law Firm in Dallas focusing on the areas of commercial and business litigation, insurance coverage and recovery, and white collar crime defense. For three consecutive years, he was named a ‘Rising Star' by Texas Monthly (2005, 2006, and 2007) and was named one of eight Dynamic Lawyers in DFW in 2008. He is an active member of the Dallas Bar Association, serving on its Board of Directors in 2001, 2002 and 2004 to present. In 2006, Paul was named ‘Outstanding Minority Attorney' by the Dallas Bar Association (DBA), and he currently serves as Chair of the 2008 DBA Board. He also served as the 2002 President of the J. L. Turner Legal Association. He currently serves on the Board of Trustees of the Dallas Bar Foundation and is a member of the Dallas Association of Young Lawyers Foundation. In addition to being an active member of the State Bar of Texas, Paul is an adjunct professor at Texas Tech University School of Law, having taught Insurance Law (2002; 2005; 2008), Interviewing & Counseling (2007), and Trial Advocacy (2004). He serves on the Board of Directors of Camp John Marc: Special Camps for Special Kids. Paul is an active member of the Black Former Student Network (Chair, 2007-2008), the Dallas A&M Club, the Texas A&M Liberal Arts Development Council, and the Department of Political Science Former Student Advisory Board. He and his wife, Telea, have three daughters, Camryn, Kendall, and Chelsea.


Jim Thompson '68
James R. "Jim" Thompson '68 of Kaufman, TX graduated from Texas A&M University with a bachelor's degree in Architectural Construction. During his tenure at Texas A&M, he was a member of the Corps of Cadets and Ross Volunteers and was named a Distinguished Military Graduate. Following graduation, Jim joined the United States Air Force and served as an instructor pilot until 1973. After gaining ten years of construction experience, he founded James R. Thompson, Inc., with offices now located in Dallas, Fort Worth and Houston. The company prides itself as an award-winning company, focusing on the construction of low-rise buildings, interior finish-out and renovation. James R. Thompson, Inc. celebrated 25 years in January 2008 and has been awarded the QUOIN (AGC) Summit Award 14 times and the AGC State Award five times. Jim is a member of Texas A&M's Construction Industry Advisory Council, the Dean of Architecture Advisory Council, the Presidential Board of Visitors, the Corps of Cadets Association and the 12th Man Foundation's Advisory Board. In 2000, he received the Outstanding Alumni Award from the College of Architecture. Jim has funded a President's Endowed Scholarship, two Sul Ross Endowed Scholarships and a Construction Science Endowed Scholarship. In addition to serving Texas A&M, Jim is involved in his community. He served on the Kaufman ISD School Board for 15 years and helped found the Kaufman ISD Scholarship Foundation. He is a former trustee of the Texas Association of School Boards as well as the Kaufman County Appraisal District. Jim is a member of the Kaufman County A&M Club and serves as a Class Agent for the Class of '68. He and his wife, Donna Beth, have three sons, Lance, Ryan '95 and Cody '01.


Bill Toler '76
P. William "Bill" Toler '76 of Cincinnati, OH, graduated from Texas A&M University with a bachelor's degree in Accounting. While at A&M, Bill was in the Corps of Cadets, serving as 1st Brigade Commander his senior year, a member of Ross Volunteers, MSC Town Hall, and was a SCONA delegate. He served in the United States Army as a field artillery officer for four years in Germany before joining Procter & Gamble in 1980. Bill helped pioneer P&G's industry leading joint business development approach with its major retail customers as the inaugural marketing manager for P&G's Wal-Mart Customer Team. He then went on to be one of the key architects of P&G's worldwide organizational transformation to Customer Business Development and elimination of a traditional sales department. He has since led various P&G business units in most regions of the world and is currently the Global Vice President for Procter & Gamble's Professional Oral Care business. In addition to having served as a Representative at Large for The Association of Former Students, Bill served as a member of Texas A&M University's Vision 2020 Task Force and the President's Vision 2020 Advisory Council. He is an active member of the Corps of Cadets Association and previously served on the Advisory Board for the Center for Retailing Studies at Texas A&M as well as the Texas A&M University Honors Programs Advisory Committee. Bill and his wife, Melanie '76, have two children, Courtney and Mark.
