Jesse Grady Jr. '49 October 15, 2009 12:00 AM

Jesse C. 'J.C.' Grady, Jr. '49, 85, of College Station (formerly of Pecan Gap) died Oct. 9, 2009. He served in the U.S. Coast Guard in the Pacific theater during World War II, including Iwo Jima and Okinawa. He received a doctorate in agricultural economics from the University of Missouri, where he taught for 14 years. He was a senior agricultural economist at the Dallas Federal Reserve Bank before joining Texas A&M in the agricultural economics department in 1967. He was associate head of undergraduate programs in the department and taught for 23 years before retiring in 1987. His awards include The Association of Former Students' Distinguished Achievement Award in Teaching in 1975. Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Ann; two sons, Douglas S. Grady '75 and Thomas M. Grady '78; and a brother. Memorials may be made to the J.C. Grady Scholarship Fund (33373), Texas A&M Foundation, 401 George Bush Drive, College Station TX 77840-2811.
