Brandon Tate Black
September 30, 2002 - December 17, 2025
The Texas A&M University community is mourning the loss of Brandon Tate Black, a senior majoring in Electrical Engineering whose passing in December 2025 has brought deep sadness to classmates, faculty, and the wider circle of family and friends who knew him. He was 23.
As an Electrical Engineering major, he was known for his work ethic and determination, qualities that earned him respect among classmates and professors alike. Those who studied alongside him recalled his willingness to collaborate, share ideas, and support others during challenging coursework.
Adventure was an integral part of Brandon’s life, as it landed him all across the country growing up. Brandon lived in seven states before settling in College Station to pursue a degree in electrical engineering.
Once in Aggieland, Brandon immersed himself in the culture and traditions of the university. He joined professional organizations such as the Texas A&M National Scholar Ambassadors, Engineers for a Sustainable World and became an Electrical Engineering Ambassador. He also became involved in a service organization — BUILD — and a recreational team through the unicycle club.
Brandon was someone who was always concerned about others and put them first. He lit up a room with his smile and laughter. Brandon touched the lives of many and will be remembered by those he loved as a vibrant and caring young man who aspired to be a light for those around him.
