Simone Johanna (Mostert) Bailey
April 29, 1964 - January 16, 2026
Simone Bailey, age 61, of Schertz, Texas, sadly passed away on January 16, 2026 after a long journey with progressive primary aphasia.
Simone was born on April 29, 1964 in Bussum, The Netherlands to Simon and Nel Mostert. She grew up in Cypress Creek, Texas where she attended Cypress Creek High School and enjoyed swimming and playing the clarinet.
She went on to earn a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering from Texas A&M University and a Master of Science in Civil Engineering from Texas Tech University.
In 1986, Simone married Jeffery Bailey, and they shared 20 years together. They had two children, Kendall and Kyle.
Simone spent her early career working at Morton Thiokol as an engineer before pivoting to teaching starting as a Mother's Day Out teacher and eventually finding her career as a high school math teacher at Clemens High School in Schertz, Texas. She excelled at teaching, eventually becoming the IB Math Coordinator. Outside of work, she enjoyed photography, scrapbooking, long walks with her dog, baking, and volunteering. Friends and family remember her for her kindness, creativity, intellect, resourcefulness, and sense of humor.
Simone made a lasting impact through volunteer work on the Schertz Library Advisory Board including the building of the library playscape. As a teacher, she earned numerous teaching awards including ExCel Teacher of the Year. Most importantly, her impact was felt through her daily interactions with her students as evidenced by the hundreds of thank you notes she received and treasured over the years.
Simone is survived by her children, Kendall Bailey (Vince Li) and Kyle Bailey; her grandchildren, Liriel and Lane; her sisters, Christine Ray (Steve) and Jacqueline Mostert (James Barry Kendrick); and her nieces and nephews, Katie, Marten, Daniel, Sean, and Christine. She was preceded in death by her parents, Simon and Nel Mostert.
