Glen Charles Carlson 

October 6, 1938 - January 9, 2026 

Glen Charles Carlson passed away on January 9, 2026 at the age of 87.

He was preceded in death by his best friend and loving wife of over 50 years Angela Rae Carlson, his parents Clarence and Stella Carlson, and his brother Neil Carlson.

He is survived by his children Greg (Debbie) Carlson, Deb (John) Orner, and Amy (Karl) Hanson. Grandchildren Hannah Monday (Danny Portz), Abby (Logan) Meyer, Chase (Kelly) Boswell, Charlie Monday, and Lucy Carlson. He is also survived by four great grandchildren and his spouse Kathy.

He was born on October 6, 1938 in Thief River Falls, Minnesota and grew up there graduating from Lincoln High School in 1956. He was joined in marriage to Angela Rae Weiner on June 19, 1961. Glen and Angela were happily married for over 50 years until Angela passed away on November 1, 2011.

Glen was an All-State hockey player on the prowler hockey team that won the high school state championship in 1956. The book ‘River of Champions’ was written about his state championship. He was also an All-State baseball player and is a member of the Lincoln High School Hall of Fame.

He graduated from the University of North Dakota with a Civil Engineering degree in 1961, and from Texas A&M University with a Master’s degree in Transportation Engineering in 1968. Glen had a successful career with the Minnesota Department of Transportation as Manager of the Traffic Management Center. He earned the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal for his service in the Army during the Berlin Crisis in 1961-1962.

Glen’s main joy in life was his family , and they were fortunate enough to enjoy vacations together traveling to most of the states as well as Canada and Mexico.

He was a very positive person with a great sense of humor. He considered himself to be extremely lucky growing up where he did, with the grandparents and parents that he had, with his wife, children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and with the life he led.

The family will be having a private Celebration of Life.
