Joseph Leon Munn 

September 1, 1940 - July 26, 2025 

Joseph Leon Munn, 84, of Gainesville, Texas passed away July 26, 2025 at Presbyterian Hospital of Plano in Plano, Texas. He was born on September 1, 1940 in Fort Worth, Texas to Joseph and Lila (Morris) Munn.

He attended Texas A&M University and UT Arlington. He married Jeannette Munn on October 14, 1972. He was a train conductor for the Burlington Northern Santa Fe for 44 years. He served on the Keene ISD school board for 13 years. He attended First Baptist Church Gainesville starting in 1991, where he also served as a Deacon. He was a Master Mason with Gainesville Lodge 210. He married Tanys James on May 16, 2020.

Joseph is survived by: Wife, Tanys James, Daughter and son-in-law Jennifer and James Wood, Stepdaughter and step son-in-law Phyllis and Bryan Bradley, Stepson and Step daughter-in-law Matt and Misty James Granddaughter and grandson-in-law, Amber and Michael DiSessa, Grandson, Alex Wheeler, Granddaughter Faith Wood, Step grandsons Kelton and Kollin James, and Great Grandchildren Allyssa DiSessa, Eleaina DiSessa, Laine DiSessa, and Giana DiSessa.

He was preceded in death by: Wife, Jeannette Munn, Great Granddaughter, Emma Grace, Brother, Ronald Munn, Parents, Joseph and Lila Munn.

The family will receive friends at Geo. J. Carroll & Son on Wednesday, July 30, 2025 from 5:00PM - 7:00PM. Funeral services will be at 10:00AM on Thursday, July 31, 2025 at First Baptist Church Gainesville. Interment will be at Fairview Cemetery.
