Linda Ruth (Reddehase) Borgstedte

November 27, 1944 - July 9, 2025

Linda Ruth (Reddehase) Borgstedte passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 9, 2025.

She is survived by her loving husband, Ted, and their children: Dr. Thomas Borgstedte and his wife, Dr. Allyson (Farlow) Borgstedte, along with their children Victoria and Thomas Jr.; and Robert Borgstedte and his wife, Kate (Oliver) Borgstedte, with their children Keaton and Dashiell.

She was preceded in death by her beloved son, Ted Borgstedte III, her parents Melvin and Wilma (La Beth) Reddehase, her brother Douglas Reddehase, and her sister Carolyn Loesch.

Born in Freeport, Texas, and raised in Brenham, Linda was baptized at First United Methodist Church in Brenham. As a youth, she joined the Girl Scouts, a commitment that continued into her adult life. In high school, she volunteered and worked as a nurse’s aide at St. Jude Hospital in Brenham.

After graduating from Brenham High School, she pursued higher education at Blinn Junior College, the University of Texas at Austin, and the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, studying nursing. She later earned her Bachelor of Science in Home Economics from the University of Houston in 1970, where she was honored as the Phi Epsilon Omicron Outstanding Student. She also attended the master’s program in Special Education at Texas A&M University.

Linda married Ted Borgstedte, Jr. on August 28, 1966, in Brenham. She taught science for two years in Brenham before the family moved to Austin in 1973. There, she served on the AISD board for early childhood education and was active in Beta Sigma Phi in both Brenham and Austin. For a decade, she worked as a professional meeting planner and trade magazine editor for a Texas trade association. During her years in Austin, she developed a passion for floral design and became skilled in creating beautiful arrangements.

In 1986, the family moved to La Grange, where Linda returned to teaching. She served in the La Grange Independent School District as a special education and home economics teacher. She was instrumental in bringing Special Olympics to the district and coached for more than 20 years. Her dedication earned her a nomination to Who’s Who Among America’s Teachers and the University of Texas Excellence Award for Outstanding High School Teachers.

A dedicated community leader, Linda served on the board of the Texas Women’s League and held officer roles in the La Grange Garden Club, where she was honored as Outstanding Senior Citizen. She was a lifetime member of the Brenham VFW Auxiliary and took special pride in her membership in the Daughters of the Republic of Texas.

Linda was also an accomplished photographer, winning awards for her work and sharing her images widely. Her love of travel took her across Europe, Mexico, and to 48 U.S. states—missing only Oregon and Hawaii. She especially enjoyed visiting museums and botanical gardens, with New York City being a favorite destination. In her later years, she took up pottery, delighting in creating and sharing her art. Above all, Linda will be remembered as a generous and devoted wife, mother, and “Nana,” leaving behind a legacy of love and joyful memories that will be treasured by her family and friends.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, July 15, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. in the First Presbyterian Church, 205 S. Franklin St., La Grange, Texas and a second funeral service will be held that afternoon beginning at 2:00 p.m. in the Friedens Church of Washington-on-the-Brazos, 20301 FM 1155 East, Washington, Texas. Burial will follow in the Friedens Church Cemetery.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Koenig-Belvill Funeral Home & Cremations, 208 W. Pearl St., La Grange, Texas.
