James Perry Malone, Jr.
April 15, 1957 - August 13, 2025
James Perry Malone, Jr., affectionately known as Jim, 68, of Houston, Texas, passed away on August 13, 2025. Born on April 15, 1957, Jim brought warmth, laughter, and a boundless love of life to everyone he met.
Jim was born in Bryan, Texas, the cherished, eldest son of Dr. James Malone and Nancy Malone. He attended Texas A&M University, where he played football, forging lifelong friendships and embracing the spirit of Aggieland.
A lifelong salesman, Jim carved his path in the oil and medical industries before dedicating over 20 years to General Truck Body as General Manager. He mentored countless colleagues with patience, humor, and a knack for closing deals. His reputation for integrity and generosity extended beyond the boardroom, and he welcomed everyone with a smile.
Jim’s joy was rooted in the simple pleasures of outdoor life, where he felt most at home. He embraced every moment of hunting deer and dove alongside his friends of over 30 years. Fishing in Rockport, Texas, where mornings on the water with friends turned fresh catches into feasts at Crab-N in Aransas Pass. Mastering backyard BBQ, grilling brisket, ribs, chicken, and his beloved redfish on the half shell from his massive smoker pit. Playing poker with lifelong friends who became brothers, sharing laughter and the thrill of a well-played hand.
Jim is survived by Cheryl, his devoted wife of 44 years, daughter Erin (fiancé, Joe Klimkowicz), and son James. He also leaves behind his parents, Dr. James and Nancy Malone, and siblings Scott, Steve, Leslie, and Jesse, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. His home overflowed with love and laughter, welcoming friends who became family and family members who became friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, September 19, 2025, at 5:30 p.m., at the West Harris County Municipal Building, 9431 Rio Grande Drive, Houston, Texas. The family requests casual attire and friends will share stories of Jim’s life.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in memory of Jim Malone to The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, P.O. Box 4486, Houston, Texas 77210-4486 or mdanderson.org/gifts.
