Thomas Wayne "Tom" Wright
July 19, 1940 - September 13, 2025
Thomas "Tom" Wayne Wright, 85, passed away Saturday evening, September 13, 2025, in Baytown, Texas.
Tom was born July 19, 1940, to parents Versie Mae and Bernard William Wright. He grew up in Groves, Texas, alongside his three brothers and graduated from Port Neches/Groves High School in 1958. He attended Texas A&M briefly before joining the United States Army in the early 1960s. After the army, he worked for the family plumbing business, where he became an experienced plumber. In 1964, Tom married Denise Vincent and started his family. Later, in 1971, he moved to Mont Belvieu, where he began his law enforcement career that spanned several decades, working primarily as a constable for Chambers County. In retirement, he worked security, still driven to serve and protect.
Tom never met a stranger, loving to talk with anyone and everyone, no matter where he was. He was a Dallas Cowboys fan, making sure to catch every game. But more than a Cowboys fan, Tom was an old-school cowboy himself and loved the outdoors and tending to animals. He was an avid animal lover, always taking care of animals, whether they were his or strays. His heart was full of kindness, and he loved his family dearly. He will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved him.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents, Bernard and Versie Wright, and his brothers, Walter "Bubba" Wright and Kenneth "Kenny" Wright. He is survived by his daughter, Kelli Wright and fiancé Tony Duesterberg; his son, Wayne Wright and wife Dena; his granddaughter, Sophie Wright; his brother, Howard Wright and wife Janice; his former wife and longtime friend, Denise Vincent; as well as a host of nieces and nephews.
A visitation for Tom will occur on Tuesday, September 23, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Crespo and Jirrels Funeral Home. A graveside service will occur at 2:30 PM Tuesday, September 23, 2025, at Daniels Cemetery at 1496 Hwy 418 W, Kountze, TX.
