Charles Curtis Atchley, Jr.
December 13, 1944 - November 18, 2025
Charles C. Atchley, Jr., longtime resident of Rockport, Texas, died November 18, 2025, in San Antonio, Texas, where he had lived since 2006. Charles was a 1962 graduate of Rockport-Fulton High School and 1968 graduate of Texas A&M University. He was a civil servant with the DoD, retiring as a program manager at CCAD.
Remembered fondly for his fix-it attitude, he was always willing to help with whatever needed to be done, from pulling out vehicles stuck in the sand, to mowing lawns to “honey-do” projects for neighbors, friends or family. His home workshop had every imaginable screwdriver and bolt. He loved reading library books, caring for his cat and his hibiscus plants, helping prepare shrimp dinners for family and spending time with his grandchildren. A regular blood donor for decades, he also volunteered with his church as an altar guild member, with his neighbor doing COPS, and for the last three years of his life weekly with his family as a Meals on Wheels food delivery crew.
He is survived by his daughter, Tracy Barsalou, son-in-law Chris Barsalou, grandchildren Anne, Abigayle, and David Barsalou, and his sister Mary Lou Van Rite of San Angelo.
