Roll Call Tribute

Jesse "Doyle" Stewart Jr. '59 February 12, 2026 2:32 PM updated: February 12, 2026 2:37 PM

Jesse Doyle Stewart, Jr.

March 1, 1937 - December 18, 2025

Jesse Doyle Stewart, Jr., born March 1, 1937, passed peacefully in his sleep on December 18, 2025, at the age of 88.

Born and raised in Dallas, he lived a life defined by service. He first served his country: A proud graduate of the Texas A&M Corps of Cadets, Doyle spent eight years in the U.S. Army as a tank commander stationed in Germany. He next served his community: The kind of leader others naturally turned to, he built a more than three-decade career as an executive at NCH Corporation while also helping guide his church, the Aggie alumni community, and even his local YMCA. Through Rotary International, he served as President of the Rotary Club of Irving and was named a Paul Harris Fellow for his leadership, including his role in welcoming women into the organization.

Above all, his most enduring service was to his family. In 1957, while he was at A&M and she at UT-Austin, he met Patti Clifford, the love of his life and wife of 67 years. He was a devoted father to their daughter, Marci, whom he steadfastly supported through her long illness, and a loving grandfather to Stewart and Shay, taking them to school every morning, smooth jazz always playing. Mindful yet playful, prudent yet generous, Doyle-Grandpa-you will be missed.

Doyle is survived by his wife, Patti; his brother, Patrick; and his grandchildren, Stewart and Shay McDonald; and was predeceased by his daughter, Marci McDonald. His memorial service will be held on January 9th at 3:30pm at Christ Chapel at CC Young Senior Living, 4849 W. Lawther Drive in Dallas.
