Ted Maurice Stephens 

October 6, 1930 - February 2, 2026 

Ted M. Stephens died peacefully at home on February 2, 2026. He was preceded in death by his parents Ted R. and Eleanor C. (Moynahan) Stephens, his brother James R. “Jim” Stephens and wife Merle, and Ted’s wife of almost 63 years, Dee (Dunn). He is survived by their three children, Tim (Holly) Stephens, Elizabeth (Tanya Kalmar) Stephens, and Dan (Kathy) Stephens, six grandchildren, and three great grandchildren.

Born in San Antonio, Ted lived in San Benito, Brownsville, Gulfport, Mississippi, and El Paso before returning to San Antonio where he graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in 1948. He went on to Texas A&M, graduating in 1952 with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering. Ted was commissioned in the US Army as a 2nd Lt. and saw duty at Ft. Benning, Ga., Ft. Belvoir, Va, and various locations in Korea.

After his discharge from the Army in 1954, he attended graduate school at the University of Texas, where he obtained an M.S. in Mechanical Engineering. Thus began a 60+ year career in his chosen field – Air Conditioning.

He moved to Corpus Christi in 1964, first working for the Trane Company, followed by Anslinger, Inc, and finally as the owner of Airtrol Supply, Inc. and Coastal Controls, Inc.

He was active in the community as a Bucarader, a founding member of the Corpus Christi Mustangs, a member of the Rotary Club of Corpus Christi, the Westside Business Association, and the Art Museum of South Texas, just to mention a few.

A Rosary will be said at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church at 7 pm on Friday, February 20, 2026 with a funeral Mass being celebrated at St. Patrick’s Church at 10:30 am on Saturday, February 21, 2026.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Rotary Club of Corpus Christi’s Endowment Fund, to the Texas A&M University – Corpus Christi - School of Nursing as an addition to the Dee Stephens Endowed Scholarship in Nursing, or the charity of your choice.
