Jerry Winn, born on August 26, 1964, passed away on January 17, 2026, a man of great compassion and dedication who made an indelible mark on his community. Jerry will be forever remembered not only for his advocacy in addiction recovery but also for the profound love he held for his family.

He graduated from Texas A&M University in 1995 with a Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Economics. Immediately following graduation Jerry was selected and completed a six month internship with US Congressman Greg Laughlin in Washington D.C. He later pursued his master's degree to become a Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor. Jerry devoted his career to serving the community, working closely with organizations like NAMI and founding 3rd Day Treatment Center. Throughout his professional journey, he received multiple awards and recognition for his commitment to addiction and mental health awareness, showcasing his tireless dedication to helping others.

Jerry’s personality was characterized by his selflessness and giving nature. He was a caring man, full of life and energy, whose love for music and dancing brought joy not only to himself but also to those around him. He touched numerous lives in his years of service to the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo Calf Scramble Committee where he was looking forward to receiving his 25 year pin. Jerry was no stranger to hard work. From a young age he and his brother were known to spend their time mowing lawns, making and selling macrame, selling eggs from their chickens, and delivering newspapers until the age of 12, when he took his first "official" job working for Texas A&M.

One of the greatest parts of Jerry’s life was his relationship with Nancy, whom he adored deeply. The couple met while working together at the Phoenix House in Houston, where Jerry's persistence won Nancy’s heart setting the stage for a beautiful love story. The two shared their lives together, and the happiest day for Jerry was on May 10, 2010, when they married. Together, they experienced countless adventures, from enjoying the rodeo to spending quality time with their beloved grandchildren. Jerry’s boundless affection was evident in the nicknames he crafted for everyone and his collection of light-hearted “dad jokes.”
