John Foster Prickette
November 10, 1940 - January 8, 2026
John Foster Prickette, age 85, passed away January 8, 2026, in Dallas, Texas. He was born on November 10, 1940, in Waco, Texas. John was a 1959 graduate of Waco High School and graduated from Texas A&M in 1963, with a Bachelor’s of Business Administration degree. He married his high school sweetheart, Linda Kay Holdar, on June 8, 1963, at St Paul’s Episcopal Church in Waco, Texas. John and Linda have been married for over 62 years. He is preceded in death by his parents Doris and Gene Prickette of Waco, Texas.
After graduating from Texas A&M, John was a member of the Armed Forces of the United States of America, where he served in the Air National Guard of Texas and the Reserve of the United States Air Force. He was Honorably Discharged in 1969.
John is well known for his many professional and civic accomplishments in the cities where he lived and worked with Texas Power and Light and Texas Utilities for 34 years where he served in various managerial and executive positions. He was a member of numerous local, regional, state, and national boards and associations. His many appointments included Chairman of the Texas Economic Development Council, President of the Metrocrest Chamber of Commerce, and Board Member of the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences at Texas A&M University. In 1969, John was honored by the Metrocrest Chamber of Commerce as Citizen of the Year. John was recognized for his contributions and dedication to economic development at the state and national level.
John will especially be remembered for his devotion to his family and passion for hunting and fishing throughout Texas and his ranch in Northeast Texas. He loved rooting for his Texas Aggies and Dallas Cowboys. He was an active member of the Church of the Holy Communion in Dallas, Texas.
He is survived by his wife Linda Holdar Prickette, Dallas; sister Dr. Janice Prickette Carson, Rockwall; son John Foster Prickette Jr., and wife Gena, Sulphur Springs; daughter Paige Prickette Aran and husband Jace Aran, Mobile, Alabama; grandchildren, Caroline Prickette, Holden, Amelia, and Luke Aran, and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at The Church of the Holy Communion in Dallas on Saturday, February 7, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. with a reception to follow. The family has requested in lieu of flowers, memorials be sent to Church of the Holy Communion, 17405 Muirfield Drive, Dallas, Texas 75287.
