William Michael "Bill" Norton
September 9, 1943 - November 18, 2025
William “Bill” Norton, 82, of Arlington, Texas, entered his eternal home November 18, 2025.
Bill lived a life marked by faith, compassion, unwavering commitment to others, and deep devotion to the people he loved. A devoted husband, father, and Opa, he poured his heart into his family, offering steady support, gentle guidance, and unwavering affection. Married for 58 wonderful years to his beloved wife Helga, the two built a life together grounded in love, partnership, and faith.
Bill graduated with a degree in Engineering from Texas A&M University in 1965. Following graduation, Bill joined the United States Army and was stationed in Germany, where he met the love of his life, Helga. He honorably completed his military service, achieving the rank of First Lieutenant. Answering Gods call to ministry, Bill obtained a master’s in theology from Dallas Theological Seminary. He served faithfully as a pastor and missionary, sharing the hope of Christ with humility and conviction. His passion for bringing people to Christ and guiding them toward salvation shaped countless lives and stood at the center of who he was. After many years in ministry, Bill continued his service to the community through his work with the City of Arlington, where he retired with the respect and affection of colleagues and friends.
An avid reader and lifelong learner, Bill found joy in books, ideas, and meaningful conversation. He loved sports, especially when it meant cheering on his grandchildren, whose activities and accomplishments brought him great pride. His warm humor, gentle wisdom, and kind presence made him a source of comfort and joy to everyone blessed to know him.
Bill is lovingly remembered by his wife Helga; brother Jerry Norton and his wife Debbie; daughter Stephanie Strong and her husband Kenny Gould; son Michael Norton and his wife Sommer. He was a proud grandfather to Katlin Hinostroza, Jacob Strong, Will Strong, Sophie Strong, Matthew Norton, and Joshua Norton, each of whom brought him immense joy. He was preceded in death by his parents A.B. and Lois Norton, and his brother, Jim Norton.
His family—and all who knew him—will forever cherish his kindness, his steady wisdom, and his warm, quick sense of humor. A godly man with a servant’s heart, Bill leaves behind a profound example of faith in action. His legacy lives on in the lives he touched and the love he gave so freely. His life remains a testament to the power of grace and the beauty of a life lived fully for God and others.
