Mike Russell McDonald was born on Friday, November 24th, 1950.
Mike Russell McDonald, 74, passed away peacefully on Wednesday August 13th, 2025 at his home in Winder, GA. His wife, Tricia, was by his side.
Mike was born in Springer, New Mexico to Marvin Russell and Cherry Wandeen McDonald. The family relocated to Tahoka, Texas and gave Mike a small town upbringing that he remembered fondly. Mike graduated from the local high school and remained close with many of his classmates over the years. He studied at Texas A & M University and Texas Tech leading him to a career in the oil fields for over 30 years. He enjoyed his work and took great pride in it. Mike was also an innovator. He developed products such as the Tire Frog tool, for mechanical applications, and TruProtect, an insulating board used primarily in SCIF rooms and even made it into the White House. He always had a happy disposition with a smile on his face and a sparkle in his eyes.
Mike is survived by his wife, Patricia Chancey-McDonald; Siblings, Jeannie Faust, Ellen Fant (Ron) and Johnny McDonald (Timmie) and many beloved nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother- in-law, LaMarvin Faust, and sister-in-law, Charlene McDonald.
