Stephen B. "Steve" Cox 

May 26, 1936 - November 29, 2025 

Stephen B. (Steve) Cox, age 89, passed away on Saturday, November 29, 2025, in Denton, Texas. He was born on May 26, 1936, in Belton, Texas, to Tom and Irma (Welch) Cox.

Steve earned his undergraduate degree from Texas A&M University, where he ran track and was a member of the Aggie Corps of Cadets. He was a veteran, serving as a 1LT in the United States Army, followed by additional service in the United States National Guard.

Steve enjoyed a long career with Frito-Lay, retiring in 1992 as Manager of the Forms Administration Department at the company’s corporate headquarters.

A longtime resident of Duncanville for 32 years, he later moved to Waxahachie in 2000 and then to Granbury in 2015. He was a former member of the Duncanville Church of Christ and the College Street Church of Christ in Waxahachie.

Steve married Janice Westlake of Temple, Texas, on June 24, 1959. They were married nearly 47 years until her passing in 2006. He later married his former Belton High School classmate, Colleen Beeson, in March 2013, and they remained married until her passing in 2025.

Steve is survived by two sons: Kevin Cox and his wife Susan of Argyle, and Keith Cox and his wife Darla of Arlington; three grandchildren: MSgt Nicholas Cox, USMC, and his wife Joie Cox, Amanda Cox, and Phillip Cox; and four great-grandchildren: Raylee Cox, Harper Cox, Taylor Cox, and Lauren Cox. He is also survived by his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Maynard and Virginia Westlake of Graham, Texas; and one sister-in-law, Judy Summers of Belton, Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, LtCol Thomas “Kip” Cox, USMC (Ret).
