James Eugene Stanfield
October 15, 1945 - October 3, 2025
James Eugene Stanfield was born on October 15, 1945, to Thomas Eugene Stanfield and Donnie Edwards Stanfield. He was raised in Rising Star, Texas, with his older siblings Edward, Margarette and Marlene. His family eventually moved to Brownwood, Texas, and he graduated from Brownwood High School in 1962.
James started college at Tarleton State and transferred to Texas A & M University; he graduated from Texas A & M in 1968 with a bachelor's degree in Ichthyology. He joined the Air Force during the Vietnam War and taught survival training. He was honorably discharged in 1972.
James moved to Detroit, Michigan, to be near his brother Edward and worked on the tugboats. He eventually moved back to the South and worked at McCoy's Hardware and Home Depot in Georgetown, Texas.
James is the last of the Stanfield clan, preceded in death by his parents, his brother Edward Stanfield, and his sisters Margarette Stanfield and Marlene Stanfield Epperson. He was a loving son, brother and uncle, and carried on the legacy of his family honorable, respectful, kind, and faithful to the Lord.
He is survived by his nephew, David Epperson, of Midland, Texas; his nephew, John Epperson, and his niece, Sharee Epperson both from El Paso, Texas.
