Charles David Marshall
March 16, 1940 - October 3, 2025
Charles David Marshall passed peacefully in his sleep the morning of October 3rd, 2025.
Charles was born in Huntsville, Texas in 1940. The family moved to Kingsville where he attended Henrietta King High School graduating in 1957. He achieved his Bachelors at Texas A&M in just three years and went on to get his Law Degree at Texas University. He remained an active member of the Former Aggie Association until his death.
He married Janice Louise Baer and started his practice in Seabrook having two children. At the time there were no attorneys in Seabrook and he was proud later to discuss what a risk he took to endeavor to move and raise his family there.
He was a generous man and did a lot of business for trade including the land he built his family home on. Charles ran for State Representative as a Democrat in his early years. He was very principled and carried his practice with integrity. He served as a municipal judge in Galveston County for a period as well as working for the Governor’s office.
Charles 2nd wife was Elizabeth Dollahite Hall whom he dated back in college. They shared many happy years getting to travel to visit historic places. They both had a love for history and shared that together. Charles spent his last active years as a caregiver to her and her daughter; knowing that they were receiving love and the best care was something he was proud of. He was very fortunate that both his children decided to move back to Houston in their lives and raise their families being near to him. He was able to enjoy his grandchildren when they were young and loved seeing his son be a father.
The devastating loss of his son in 2021 and his wife in 2023 took a toll on his health from which he never recovered. He enjoyed his last year with his daughter by his side talking all the history he wanted and watching Aggie football. Now in Heaven I know he’s standing tall and walking on his own side by side with his son.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his son Charles David Marshall Jr. “Chuck”, and his wife Elizabeth Dollahite Marshall “Betty”. Surviving are his loving brother Robert P. Marshall Jr. and his wife Julie, daughter Melanie Marshall Gray and her husband Archer; his daughter in law Deanna Marshall and grandchildren Aril and Alex Marshall; Stepdaughter Allison Hall; Stepson Jeffrey Hall and wife Sonja with their children who were like grandchildren to Charles, Grace, Brandon and his wife Victoria and children.
