Pedro Aguirre, Jr. 

July 27, 1933 - October 16, 2025 

Pedro Aguirre, Jr. passed away peacefully on October 16, 2025, in Dallas, TX amongst family and friends. Born July 27, 1933, he was known for his kindness, "Can Do" spirit, passion for art, quick wit and tenacious love for family and community. He married the love of his life, Carmen Lara Aguirre, and shared what Pedro described as "sixty years of wedded bliss" together. They were inseparable and enjoyed a lifelong love story.

Pedro earned his Architecture degree from Texas A&M University and supported the Aggies throughout his life. After graduating from Texas A&M, Pedro served as a Captain in the US Army. Pedro was a licensed architect and had an artistic passion for the building design process. He founded a design and construction business in 1960 and managed Aguirre Roden Inc. for over sixty years. The company was recognized by multiple agencies and organizations over the years for its commitment to excellence, diversity and family business values.

Involvement in his community was a way of life for Pedro. He was a leader in the Dallas Hispanic arena during a time when it took courage to step forward and be outspoken. Pedro was the first Latino Dallas City Council Member elected at Large. He was honored as a Fellow by the American Institute of Architects. He was appointed as a Fulbright Scholar by President Ronald Reagan and as the Chairman of the Texas Board of Architectural Examiners by Governor Ann Richards. Pedro was recognized by Texas A&M University College of Architecture as an Outstanding Alumnus. He served on the Board of Directors for many organizations, but most notably for the DFW Airport, Dallas Chamber, Dallas Together Forum, Dallas Citizen's Council, Dallas Community College and UT Southwestern Zale Lipshy Hospital for many years, was President of the National Bankers Association, Chairman of the Board of Pan American National Bank and active participant in countless civic and charitable activities throughout his adult life embodying his commitment to service and representation.

Pedro is predeceased by his beloved wife Carmen, parents Pedro and Elisa T. Aguirre, and siblings Frank, Elisa, Ramon, and Danny. He is survived by his children Peter (Erni), Lisa Roden (Gary), and Rosaline Fletcher (John); siblings Dolores Fraga, Rosemary Sanchez, and Jesse Aguirre; grandchildren Peter, Alexis, Taylor, Joshua, Jared, Celine, Jocelyn, Selena, and Emily; and sixteen great grandchildren.

A funeral service is scheduled for noon, Wednesday, 11/19/25, at St. Rita Catholic Church, 12521 Inwood Road, Dallas, TX, with reception to follow. Private interment will be held at the DFW National Cemetery 11/20 1PM at 2000 Mountain Creek PKWY, Dallas, TX.
