Roll Call Tribute

Darrell Cole '84 January 15, 2026 2:48 PM updated: January 15, 2026 2:52 PM

Darrell Gordon Cole

April 19, 1958 - November 6, 2025

Darrell Gordon Cole, 67, of Friendswood, Texas, passed away peacefully on November 6, 2025, following a courageous battle with cancer.

Born and raised in Texas, Darrell graduated from Friendswood High School in 1976, San Jacinto Junior College, and Texas A&M University, where he earned his bachelor’s in electronic engineering in 1984. He built a respected career with Eckerd Drugs, Toshiba, Compaq, and Hewlett-Packard, retiring with pride and gratitude.

Darrell’s early years were filled with service and music—he was a Cub Scout, Boy Scout, Sea Cadet, and a dedicated trumpet player for seven years, honoring his father’s musical legacy.

On March 13, 2004, Darrell married Sandra Lee Flores, choosing a date between both their fathers’ birthdays. Together, they found joy in life’s quiet moments; visiting thrift stores, exploring towns like Conroe, Galveston, and Tyler, and spending time at the Friendswood Library, a place they both cherished.

Darrell is lovingly remembered by his wife Sandra Lee Flores Cole; sister Rhonda Cole Thrailkill (Chris); brother Clint Randall Cole (Laura); niece Aubrei Cheri Cole Thomas (Trevor); and great-niece and nephews Julian Cael, Gavyn Robert and Keia Amalia Thomas. He is also survived by his extended family: mother-in-law Eva Flores; sister-in-law Linda Gorski (Ron); brother-in-law David Flores; nephews and nieces David Danny Flores (Alexandria), Richard Aaron Flores, Michael Anthony Flores (Megan), Samuel Rene Flores (Bethany), Thomas Ian O’Brian, April Lee (Stephen); and great-nieces and nephews Valerie Brooke O’Brian, Aubriana, Elijah, and Cove Flores.

Darrell is preceded in death by his parents Julian Lavern and Marjorie Vollert Cole and his father-in-law Adan Flores, Jr

Darrell survived a stroke in 2019 and met his cancer diagnosis in 2025 with grace and courage. Sandra remembers him as a true gentleman—always opening doors and treating her with love and respect.

Darrell was Baptized, Confirmed, and Lived, the Lutheran Faith

Services will be held at Jeter Memorial Funeral Home on Friday, November 14, 2025. Visitation will be from 9-10AM with service starting at 10:00AM. Burial to follow at Gonzales Memorial Park at 3PM.
