Robert Monroe Chancey, “Bob,” 77, of Corpus Christi, Texas, passed away on December 13, 2025. Born May 9, 1948, in Houston, Texas, to Willard and Inez Chancey, Bob was raised in Corpus Christi and graduated from Tuloso-Midway High School. He earned a Bachelor’s degree in Petroleum Engineering from Texas A&M University, Class of 1970, and was a proud member of the Corps of Cadets, Company D-2.
Bob married his high school sweetheart, Martha Carberry Chancey, and together they built a life shaped by his career in petroleum engineering, living in Beaumont, El Campo, and eventually returning to Corpus Christi. They were blessed with two daughters, Mary and Elizabeth. Later in life, Bob found companionship and joy in his marriage to Nancy Kaigler Chancey.
A proud Aggie at heart, Bob cherished Texas A&M sports, the rugged beauty of South Texas living, and the hands-on satisfaction of working cattle.
He is survived by his daughters, Mary (Kevin) Mayo and Elizabeth (Jordan) Simms; grandchildren, Preston (Cande) Mayo, Connor Mayo, Brennan Simms, and Katie Simms; step-daughters, Farrah Wright, Neely Wright, and Tiffany (Rhett) Wright-Radcliffe; brother, Bill (Tricia) Chancey; and sister, Anne Short and nieces and nephews, Kristina (Richie) Ramsey, Melissa (Sean) Sciba, and James Thomas (Pam) Short. He was preceded in death by his parents, Willard and Inez Chancey; his first wife, Martha Carberry Chancey; and his second wife, Nancy Kaigler Chancey.
A private family service will be held at a later date. Donations may be made to the Texas A&M University Corps of Cadets Association at corpsofcadets.org/give or St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Freer.
