Jerry Chris Durbin of Dallas, Texas, was peacefully taken home by our Lord, December 17, 2025.
Jerry resided in San Antonio, Texas for the past 5 years. He was born September 13, 1935 in Dallas, Texas. He is preceded in death by his parents Christopher Columbus Durbin and Thelma Mae Durbin(Fox), wife Barbara A. Durbin(Fish), daughter Vickie Lynn Durbin Murphy, granddaughter Kendra Marie Murphy, brothers Dick Durbin, Tom Durbin, Jim Durbin and Mike Durbin. He is survived by Sisters: Judy Durbin and Debbie Whitfill(Durbin), Children/Spouses: Denise Marie Danby/Terry, Cathy Jo Lessel/Erv, Jerry Chris Durbin Jr/Sharon, Brian Carlton Durbin/Darcy, Grandchildren/Spouses: Michael Danby/Anthea, Jason Danby, David Danby/Lila, Stephen Danby/Lauren, Adam Danby/Jessica, Brandon Murphy/Norka, Allison Fox(Murphy)/ Luke, Mark Lessel/Miriam, Hunter Durbin/Allie, Kace Durbin/Grace, Maddie Crow(Durbin)/Shane, Abby Durbin, Sarah Durbin, Great Grandchildren: Vivienne, Gordon, George, Charlie, Ariel, Finley, Claire, Connor, Austin, Lyla and three more on the way!
Jerry grew up in Dallas, attended St Edwards, Jesuit, and then headed to Aggieland (Texas A&M University) where he studied Petroleum Engineering and played on and Captained the Golf Team. In February 1957 he married Barbara. He is the Fightin' Texas Aggie Class of 1957 (Whoop!). After graduation he went to work for "The Flying Red Horse" Magnolia Petroleum (Mobil), served as an Officer in the US Army at Fort Benning, Georgia and returned to Mobil Pipe Line Company for the balance of his career. He and the family enjoyed adventures while moving between the many transfer destinations within United States, Canada and Saudi Arabia. He served on the Boards of multiple pipeline companies/affording golf at many of this country's most beautiful courses and fishing in Alaska and Northern Canada. All this while enthusiastically engaging the family in a variety of fun activities the various locations offered, namely snow skiing, camping, and hiking in the Canadian Rocky Mountains and eventually returning to Dallas, retiring as President of Mobil Pipe Line Company. Retired years were dedicated to the family, traveling with Barbara, consulting work around the world and charitable organizations. Jerry was always performing random acts of kindness for those he loved and many strangers as well! He will be remembered as a person who truly understood what unconditional love means. He shared his time, treasure, and talent with so many!
Arrangements will be at the Memorial Chapel in Restland Cemetery on Greenville Avenue in Dallas, January 3, 2026 - Visitation 9:30 am, Funeral 10:30 am, Burial 11:45 am.
