James Edward "Eddie" Alexander

June 28, 1955 - September 24, 2025

Eddie loved his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, with all his heart and was called home on September 24, 2025. He was a beloved and dedicated son, husband, father, and brother. He loved his family passionately, often mentoring and encouraging them to thrive and give all glory to God.

He is remembered for his strong Christian faith, which he actively lived out—witnessing to so many around him. Eddie was a model servant leader in every sense. He continuously anticipated people’s needs and found solutions to help them. He was a “glass totally full” optimist, spreading joy to everyone he encountered, including through his light-hearted texts filled with emojis! He was a great listener who embodied kindness, sincerity, and a genuine love for others. He believed in making God the center of both his personal life and his marriage. He loved being a strong patriarch for his family and was called “a rock” for the family. His children and grandchildren adored him. He enriched everyone’s lives with his constant praise and encouragement. He was an enthusiastic member of the weekly Men’s Prayer Breakfast team at First Baptist Church of Abilene, TX for several years, finding his joy in praying for others in need of healing and encouragement. He was an active member at Southcrest Baptist Church. Eddie had a known passion for fun conversation, cars, flashy colors, and his cherished alma mater—Texas Tech University.

Eddie was born on June 28, 1955 in Eldorado, TX to James Edward and Jane Belk Alexander. Graduating from Sonora High School in Sonora, TX, in 1973, Eddie served on the 1971–72 Texas State Championship Golf Team and was also a member of the 1971 Texas State Championship Football Team.

After high school, Eddie pursued a degree in Industrial Engineering. He began his studies at Angelo State University, completed two years at Texas A&M University, and then transferred to Texas Tech University, where he graduated in 1978 with a Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering.

Upon graduation, he began his engineering career with Rockwell International in Richardson, TX. He was later employed by the 3M Company in Brownwood, TX, where he served in senior industrial manufacturing management leadership roles. Eddie was promoted to the 3M Corporate Headquarters in St. Paul, MN, where he distinguished himself in senior management positions involving outsource manufacturing and corporate contract negotiations. He was also responsible for building a 3M plant in Prairie du Chien, WI.

After his tenure at the 3M corporate headquarters, Eddie returned to the great State of Texas to serve as a 3M Global Product Manager in Brownwood, TX. In that role, he oversaw the manufacturing of license plates for 49 U.S. states and over 200 countries. He retired from 3M after 35 years of service, having earned the exclusive Lean Six Sigma Black Belt designation and receiving the 3M Pyramid of Excellence Award for top corporate performance.

In recognition of his professional accomplishments, Eddie was appointed to the distinguished Industrial Engineering Advisory Board at Texas Tech University in 1992.

Eddie was well known as a competitive golfer and a passionate sports enthusiast and unofficial football strategist both for professional NFL and college teams—especially for his beloved Texas Tech Red Raiders. He could quote player statistics and coaches’ careers with skill. His wife, Brenda, often joked that he should be getting paid for all his coaching calls and commentary! Let us never forget his favorite expression “WRECK ‘EM TECH”!!!

Eddie was preceded in death by his father, James Edward Alexander, Sr., of San Angelo, TX.

He is survived by: His loving wife, Brenda Alexander, of Lubbock, TX; His mother, Jane Alexander, of San Angelo, TX; His three children: Cory Hall of Mountain Brook, AL; April (Aaron) Tassin of Early, TX; and Autumn Alexander of Houston, TX; Two stepchildren: Brandon (Randi) Griffin and Kensey (Ryan) Robinson, both of Lubbock, TX; Grandchildren: James Bradford Hall, Mary Allison Hall, Elizabeth Tassin, Alexander Tassin, Micah Griffin, Phoebe Griffin, Braydon Robinson, Gage Robinson, Kameryn Robinson, and Jace Robinson; Siblings: June (Eddie) Sutton of Amarillo, TX; Sheila (Charlie) Halfmann of Van Court, TX; and Ray Belk “RB” (Brenda) Alexander of Van Alstyne, TX; Mother-in-law: Mary Warren of Lubbock, TX; Sister-in-law: Anne (Troy) McIntosh of Victoria, TX; And many other extended family members and friends who cherished him deeply.
