April 17, 1951 - October 28, 2025
Thomas “Buddy” Spencer Cavender, Jr., a beloved member of his community and cherished family man, peacefully departed this life on Tuesday, October 28, 2025, in Beaumont, Texas. Born on April 17, 1951, in Alice, Texas, Buddy lived a life marked by devotion, kindness, and hard work.
His family and friends fondly referred to him as the sweetest man, a testament to his kind-hearted nature. Buddy was always ready to lend a helping hand, whether it was fixing things for friends or sharing his love for farming and gardening. A devout Christian, he served as a deacon at First Baptist Church in Port Neches. His faith was an integral part of his life, and he became an example of love and kindness for all who knew him.
Buddy was a Fightin’ Texas Aggie Class of ‘73. He thrived on life’s simple pleasures: dominoes, spending time with family and friends, enjoying the outdoors, and deer hunting.
He is survived by his loving wife, Beverly, of 49 years. His legacy also carries on through his daughters: Laura Herrington and her husband, Ryan; Wendy Evans and her husband, Jeremy; and Amanda Schram and her husband, Kevin; and his treasured grandchildren: Zoe and Emily Lewis, Avery, Kaely, Maggie, and Lila Evans, and Logan, Ella and Brett Schram. They will forever remember their G-Dad as an example of love and devotion.
Buddy now joins his late parents, Thomas and Blanche Cavender, alongside his brothers, George and Fred Frank, who preceded him in death.
The family will honor Buddy’s memory with a visitation on November 1, 2025, from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., followed by a memorial service from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Port Neches, located at 1900 Magnolia Avenue, Port Neches, Texas.
Buddy will be dearly missed by all who were touched by his gentle spirit, generous heart, and unwavering dedication to his family and faith. His legacy of love will continue to inspire those he leaves behind.
