June 10, 1933 - October 12, 2025
Marlene "Marty" Louise Stover completed her journey home to the arms of Jesus peacefully, surrounded by her family, on October 12, 2025, at the age of 92.
Marty was born on June 10, 1933, in Hoagland, Indiana. She attended Indiana University, where she began her lifelong pursuit of learning and music. She went on to earn her Master's in Music Education from St. Francis University and her Doctorate from Texas A&M University.
A passionate educator and accomplished musician, Marty dedicated her life to sharing the joy of music. Her career took her to classrooms and concert halls across the country, from southern Texas to Michigan and Minnesota, where she ultimately retired from St. Catherine University. Alongside teaching, Marty performed as a percussionist with numerous local philharmonics and orchestras. Her love of music and her gift for teaching touched countless lives, leaving an enduring legacy that continues to inspire.
Marty is survived by her children Tamara Flick-Parker (Neil), Dan Flick (Saglara), and Bill Richardson (Jamie); sister Barbara Shepherd and brother Stephen Melcher (Donna); sister-in-law Sally Melcher; and grandchildren Keegan Flick-Parker (Ali), Jackson, Jane, and Avery Richardson. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jim Stover; brother, Fred Melcher; brother-in-law Charles Shepherd and parents, Walter and Emma Melcher.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, October 18, 2025, at Prince of Peace Church located at 13801 Fairview Drive Burnsville, MN, with visitation at 1:00 p.m., service at 2:00 p.m., and reception to follow.
