Madison Elayne Burns, DVM 

June 27, 1991 - October 19, 2025 

Madison Elayne Burns, age 34, of Terrell, TX, passed away October 19, 2025. She was born on June 27, 1991, in Weatherford, Texas to Jerry Allen Burns and Elayne Renee Burns. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Growing up, Madison stayed busy with debate club, softball, NHS, and was in the top 10% of her class. While in college, Madison joined the 2009 Varsity West Texas A&M Equestrian Team as an English rider. In 2013, Madison earned her bachelor’s degree in animal science. She then went on to earn her doctorate in veterinary medicine from Texas A&M University in 2021 which led her to begin working as a veterinarian at SPCA Dallas. Her hobbies included leathercraft and dog training competition and agility.

Madison is survived by her parents: Jerry and Elayne Burns; sister: Miranda Boterf; brother: Michael Burns, and nieces: Abigail, Addison, and Audrey Boterf. She was preceded in death by her grandparents: Milton and Kathleen Burns.

A memorial service will be held 2:00pm on Tuesday, October 28, 2025, at Rest Haven Funeral Home - Rockwall, Texas. Interment will follow at Rest Haven Memorial Park. A visitation will be held an hour prior to the service from 1:00pm to 2:00pm at Rest Haven Funeral Home – Rockwall, Texas.
