Rebecca Jane "Becky" (McWhorter) Green
January 14, 1958 - September 4, 2025
Becky Green, born Rebecca Jane McWhorter, began her extraordinary life on January 14, 1958, in Roswell, New Mexico. A true free spirit from the start.
With her parents and brother, she spent her early years traveling and moving across the globe—including six years in Libya and one in Indonesia—before the family settled in Houston, Texas. She was a graduate of Westchester High School’s Class of 1976. Becky went on to attend Texas A&M University. Though she did not complete her degree, her time there helped cultivate her love of golf—a sport she enjoyed for many years even after losing her left leg due to complications associated with diabetes.
Becky’s adult life was deeply shaped by her faith. She found strength and purpose in serving the Lord, a calling that remained at the heart of everything she did. She built a successful career in real estate, helping countless families find the homes “God meant for them to have.” Her work was never just a job—it was another way she served others. Becky poured her heart into church life, serving faithfully in a variety of roles including worship team, welcome team, singles ministry leader, prayer warrior and most recently, Stephen Ministries. She had a true servant’s heart and an unshakable resilience, inspiring everyone who knew her.
Her greatest love, though, was her daughter Rebecca. As a single mother, Becky was fiercely devoted to ensuring she had all she needed and more. Seeing her daughter happy and thriving was Becky’s proudest achievement, and she was quick to let everyone know that.
Becky will be remembered as hilarious and quick-witted, always ready with a joke; fearless and determined, never backing down from a challenge; and deeply loyal, loving, and joyful. She embodied strength, not only in her own personal journey but also in how she lifted and supported those around her.
Becky was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Kelly and Celia Foncyne McWhorter. She is survived by her cherished daughter Rebecca Green and son-in-law Addison Lemons; her devoted brother Ron McWhorter and his wife Cindy; niece Kelly Hill and her husband Bryan and their 4 children; nephew Sean McWhorter and his wife Dylan Hickey-McWhorter and their 2 children; half-brother Bob Hunsaker; former husband Brian Green and his son Michael; godson Ismael Jackson and dear friend and roommate of 14 years, Kim Shelby.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 7, 2025 at the chapel of Houston’s First Baptist Church followed by a reception with light refreshments. Those attending are encouraged to wear bold patterns and bright colors.
