Thomas Andrew Courson 

August 28, 1954 - August 13, 2025 

Thomas Andrew Courson, 70, passed away August 13, 2025, after a 5-year battle with esophageal cancer. He graduated from Texas A&M University with a degree in Building Construction, and played on the A&M varsity tennis team.

Tom worked in the Building Construction industry for a while, but his passion was tennis, and decided to teach tennis full-time. Tom's last 19 years of work was at Stratford Senior High School, Houston, as a Geometry teacher. He was also Assistant Tennis Coach and Head Tennis Coach for many of the years at Stratford. He loved his job -- always had a passion for teaching in the classroom and on the tennis courts. Due to his health, he retired in 2022.

Tom is preceded in death by his parents, William H. Courson and Billie B. Courson of El Paso; Father-in-law, Lewis Fredrick Kostelecky of Houston. He is survived by his loving wife of almost 39 years, Debra; son, Justin Courson and wife Maria of Houston; son, Jason Courson of Houston; brother, Mike Courson and wife Alison of Alpine, California; brother, Dan Courson and wife Sandy of Houston; Mother-in-law, Nettie Jean (Bitsy) Kostelecky of Houston; and 3 granddaughters, Lucy, Calista, and Celeste, along with a 4th grandchild on the way.

A private Burial will be held Friday, August 22, 2025 Woodlawn Cemetery. Memorial Services will be held at 10:30am Saturday, September 13, 2025 in the Chapel at Chapelwood United Methodist Church, 11140 Greenbay Street, Houston, Texas.
