Don Milton Murdock, 85, passed away peacefully at home on December 21, 2025 surrounded by his loving family.
Born in 1940 in Roscoe, Texas to Mannan and Verdell Murdock, Don was raised in the Houston area before attending Texas A&M University and graduating with both bachelor and master’s degrees in geology. He later enlisted as an officer in the U.S. Navy and served in Vietnam from January to December, 1969. After his military service completed, Don went on to a successful geology career with Exxon that took him and his family around the world with lengthy stints living in England and Malaysia
Don was a devoted husband, father and grandfather who loved family trips and holiday gatherings. He enjoyed many passions like antique woodworking tools, running with the Hash House Harriers, fly fishing, playing 42 and traveling the country and the world.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, June; children, Scott Murdock and Melissa Hicks and son-in-law, Finley Hicks; and grandchildren, Daniel, Reagan and Justin.
