Kevan Grant Gunter, age 68, passed away on May 19th, 2025 after a well-lived life. The sun rose and the world welcomed Kevan on November 16, 1956, a day the world became a little brighter. She was from San Antonio, born at the Kingsville Naval Station and grew up in Corpus Christi.
Kevan was always proud of her Texas heritage. She was a true Aggies fan, going to Texas A&M University on a scholarship. After graduation, she was successful in business, having lived in Dallas and in Chicago for many years before moving back to San Antonio. Some of her most treasured moments in life included activities in the Chicago area, enjoying all that the city offers.
Always active in charity work and supporting local businesses, Kevan worked with many community groups, individuals, and organizations to address local needs and raise awareness for underserved people and for animals in need. She was passionate about the environment, enthusiastic about reading, learning new things, and was always involved in the San Antonio Book Festival.
Kevan loved animals and was devoted to rescuing dogs and cats throughout her life. She also enjoyed so many adventures: going on various trips to national parks, state parks, vineyards, cities around the country and around the world. She always had the unique ability to be comfortable in nature and hiking or camping, as well as comfortable in formal events and entertaining.
Kevan was preceded in death by her parents, Lee Grant, Jr. (Cotton) and Patti Gunter, and her niece, Melody David. She is survived by her aunt, Laura Mahoney (Aunt Lolly), her niece, Cristel Wheeler and her husband Greg and their children Summer, Cali, Mark and Stratton, her sister, Shannon David, and many cousins and dear friends.
