Ervin Luedke '62 December 11, 2025 4:27 PM updated: December 11, 2025 4:36 PM

Ervin Leslie Luedke

September 11, 1940 - December 8, 2025

Ervin Leslie Luedke was born September 11, 1940, in a house near Riesel, Texas to Annie and Herbert Luedke. He was baptized on October 12, 1940 at Zion Lutheran Church in Riesel, Texas, and was confirmed on April 11, 1954 at Grace Lutheran Church in Mart, Texas. Ervin married May Allene Sielaff on September 2nd 1961, at Grace Lutheran Church in Mart, Texas.

He graduated from Texas A&M University in 1962, following which he was commissioned a second lieutenant in the United States Air Force, which took the family to bases in the United States and in England. Following his service in the Air Force, Ervin joined Exxon where he worked over 30 years, retiring in 1997 from the federal government relations group in the Exxon department of Public Affairs. Throughout their lives, Ervin and May shared many travels and adventures across the country and much of the world, in love and as best friends.

Ervin spent much of his life in service to the Lord. He spent nearly 40 years as an elder at Lamb of God Lutheran Church in Humble, Texas. He also spent over 25 years as a Stephen Minister, serving countless people in need of spiritual and often emotional healing. So many lives have been touched by Ervin’s uncommon ability to connect with people and spread God’s love.

Ervin is preceded in death by his wife, May; he is survived by his brother Bob Luedke and sister, Geraldine Royder, and his three children, Tammy Lee Tice and her husband Jim Tice, May Michele Ridings and her husband Russ Ridings, and Stewart Allen Luedke and his wife Amy Luedke, and his four grandchildren, Emma and Kirstin deBlonk, and Savannah and Leslie Luedke.
