July 25, 1947 - July 15, 2025 

Jerry Halfant, 77, of Earlysville, VA passed away on Tuesday, July 15, 2025. He was born on July 25, 1947, in Galveston, Texas, to the late Seymour Halfant and Goldie Reinhardt Halfant.

He is survived by his beloved wife Carlis; daughter Kerri Halfant (Thomas Hochstein); daughter Jennie (Michael) Golden; daughter Brittney Hatcher; and nine grandchildren who lovingly referred to him as, "Grandpa Stache." His granddaughters include Sarah (Austin) Sivoravong; and Naomi, Sophia, Gianna, and Elissa Golden. Grandsons include Evan Hochstein, Alex Hochstein, Westly Roberts, and Sean Demmer.

Jerry is also survived by his beloved sister Rozanne (Howard) Rubin; niece Alissa (Gregory) Gomez; niece Stacey (Brian) Rose; nephew Marc Rubin (Ashley Portmann); and five great nephews; along with many friends and extended family.

After growing up in Galveston, he attended Texas A&M University on a four-year ROTC scholarship program that was awarded him by the Department of the Army. Jerry was one of 400 students from across the country selected for this competitive scholarship. After graduating from Texas A&M, Jerry joined the United States Army Special Forces and proudly served his country as a Green Beret paratrooper in the Vietnam War.

Following his time in the service, he became a Certified Public Accountant and enjoyed a long professional career as the controller of Carter Myers and later Jim Price Automotive in Charlottesville. As an avid history buff, Jerry enjoyed taking his family to various historical sites and helping to instill a love for learning in his children. His family was always his true passion; his children and grandchildren have many fond memories to cherish.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 23, 2025, at Hill & Wood Funeral Service, Charlottesville, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m.. He will later be laid to rest in Galveston, Texas, alongside his parents.
