Timothy "Tad" Dunn '01 November 14, 2025 12:08 PM updated: November 14, 2025 12:16 PM

Timothy Allen "Tad" Dunn

May 8, 1979 - October 30, 2025

Timothy Allen “Tad” Dunn of Lucas, Texas, passed away on October 30, 2025, at the age of 46. He was born on May 8, 1979, in Dallas, Texas, to loving parents Timothy Raymond Dunn and Marcia Kay (Walker) Dunn.

Tad grew up in the Dallas area and graduated from J.J. Pearce High School in 1997. He went on to earn his bachelor’s and master’s degree from Texas A&M University in 2001 and his Doctor of Jurisprudence from The University of Texas School of Law in 2004. Over the years, Tad worked for several law firms, most recently with Messer Fort, where he was highly respected by colleagues and clients alike.

On May 22, 2004, Tad married his high school sweetheart and love of his life, Erin Stanley, in Richardson, Texas. Together, they built a beautiful life centered around family, faith, and community. He was a devoted husband and a deeply involved father, active in every aspect of his children’s lives. Whether cheering from the sidelines, supporting the marching band, or helping with school events, Tad’s enthusiasm and love for his family shone brightly. Tad’s faith guided his life and relationships.

Known for his kindness, sarcastic sense of humor, and musical spirit, he was also an avid sports fan, memorizing every useless stat, mostly centered around Tottenham Hotspur and Aggie Football. He was also a proud “dog dad” and found joy in the simple, everyday moments spent with those he loved.

Tad is survived by his wife, Erin Dunn of Lucas, Texas; two children, Cassidy Dunn and Cavan Dunn, both of Lucas, Texas; his parents, Tim and Kay Dunn of McKinney, Texas; his sister, Anne Maris and husband Jimmy of Spring, Texas; and a host of numerous other loving family and friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, November 9, 2025, at 2:30 p.m. at The Overlook at the Heard Museum 2000 Nature Place, McKinney, Texas 75069.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Saving Pyrs in Need (SPIN), the Great Pyrenees rescue where the family adopted their beloved dogs. https://www.spinrescue.org/
