Herman Carl Gadeke, Jr.
July 8, 1935 - October 6, 2025
Herman Carl Gadeke, Jr., 90, died peacefully on Monday, October 6, 2025 in San Antonio, Texas after a brief illness.
Born in El Campo, Texas, he was the only child of Mary and Herman C. Gadeke, Sr. He spent his early years in Edna, Texas, before moving with his family to Kerrville. He was a graduate of Tivy High School, Schreiner Institute, and Texas A&M University. As a civil engineer, he spent the next 38 years with TxDOT. His last assignment was Resident Engineer of North Bexar County. After retirement he was a substitute teacher at Tom C. Clark High School for 14 years.
When he finally retired for good, Herman enjoyed involvement with the San Antonio A&M Club and especially the fellowship of the weekly lunch meetings. He enjoyed antiquing, traveling, boating, golf, board games, gardening, and supporting Aggie activities.
A loving husband, father, and grandfather, he is survived by Yvonne, his wife of 63 years, and children, Guy Gadeke of San Antonio, and Whitney Gadeke Andrews; son-in-law Michael Andrews; and grandchildren Jackson and Sarah Andrews, all of Shrewsbury.
A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, October 18 at Coker Methodist Church at 10 am.
