Stephen P. "Steve" Watson
March 15, 1958 - June 10, 2025
Stephen "Steve" Watson of Richardson, Texas, passed away June 10, 2025, at the age of 67. He was born on March 15, 1958, to Billy and Gail (Craven) Watson in Fort Campbell, Kentucky. Steve grew up in numerous places due to his father's service in the US Army. Upon his father's retirement, the family settled in El Paso where he graduated from Burges High School, Class of 1976.
Steve went on to earn his bachelors degree in mechanical engineering from Texas A&M University, graduating in the Class of 1980.
On November 5, 1983, he married his college sweetheart, Marette Tovlin, in Plano, Texas. Together they built a life rooted in love, family, and cherished moments. Steve enjoyed a long and fulfilling career as a mechanical engineer in the telecommunications industry. Outside of work, he had a deep love for flying, working on his 1986 Ford mustang, woodworking, golfing, and connecting with others through his HAM radio. He also found joy in the kitchen, often cooking for family and friends, his specialty, sourdough bread.
A man of the Episcopal faith, Steve was grounded by his values and his dedication to those he loved. He will be remembered as a devoted husband, loving father, caring brother, uncle, and a loyal friend. His warm spirit, sense of humor, and quiet strength will be fondly remembered and deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 42 years, Marette Watson of Richardson, Texas; daughter, Kendra Watson of Houston, Texas; son, Collin Watson of Frisco, Texas; sister, Karen Wentworth and husband, Jim of El Paso, Texas; brother-in-law, Joe Tovlin and wife, Stacy of Baytown, Texas; sister-in-law, Madonna Foster and husband, Robert of Houston, Texas; sister-in-law, Mary Beth Cranfill and husband, Kenneth of Lucas, Texas; and a host of other loving family members and friends. Steve was preceded in death by his parents.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, June 28, 2025 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Chapel, 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, Texas. The family requests memorial donations be made in Steve s memory to the Dr. James Brugarolas Kidney Cancer program at UTSouthwestern; Values - Brugarolas Lab.
