Funeral services for James Sullivan Myers, 80, of Lufkin, Texas will be held Thursday, July 10, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Jacob Fitzgerald and Pastor Shawn Myers officiating. Graveside services will be held Friday, July 11, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. at Restland Cemetery in Dallas.
Mr. Myers was born May 5, 1945 in Dallas, Texas to the late Nina Muriel (Anderson) and Thomas C. Myers, and died Sunday, July 6, 2025 in a local hospice facility.
Jim graduated from Garland High School in 1963. He married Denise Duckworth on July 12, 1968 and then graduated Texas A&M University Class of 1969. Jim enjoyed serving the Lord in various ways including church administration, mission work, teaching, and music ministry. Jim’s lifelong passion was spreading the Gospel and Good news of Jesus Christ, and helping believers to grow in His grace. He had a great love and devotion for his wife and family, and he was truly a friend who would stick closer than a brother.
Survivors include his wife, Denise (Duckworth) Myers of Lufkin; daughter, Tammy Sweet of Spring, son and daughter-in-law, Shawn Sullivan and Kristi Myers of Little Rock, Arkansas; grandsons, Gabriel Sullivan Sweet, Sullivan Daniel Myers, and Benjamin Aiden Myers; brother, Jerry T. Myers of Frankston; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Cloyd and Donna Duckworth of Corsicana, and Dan and Kym Duckworth of May; and a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister-in-law, Margaret Myers.
