Harvey Phillips Kimbrough, Jr. 

March 13, 1924 - December 18, 2023 

Harvey P. Kimbrough, 99 of Seaford, Delaware, went home to Jesus on December 18, 2023.

Born in Sylacauga, Alabama on March 13, 1924, to the late Harvey P. Kimbrough, Sr and Mary Posey Kimbrough, Harvey was raised in Leeds and Birmingham Alabama. He attended Philips High School in Birmingham, Hendrix College, Texas A&M University and graduated from University of Alabama in 1948 with a BS in Mechanical Engineering.

Harvey worked for American Cast Iron Pipe Co., Woodward Iron Company and DuPont de Nemours, Inc. in both Chattanooga, Tenn and Seaford, Del.

He was drafted as an 18-year-old in World War II. He served 43 months in the Corps of Engineers and went to Okinawa and then South Korea in the Army of Occupation. He was discharged as a 1st Lt. in the Corp of Engineers.

He married Wilma Binford of Birmingham in June 1953. They raised 3 children. Phil (Penny) Kimbrough, of Seaford, DE. Marguerite (Chip) Carper of Laurel, DE and Terry (Jim) Fibelkorn of Harrington, DE.

Harvey served the Methodist Church in many capacities. He taught Sunday School in Birmingham and was Chairman of a church building committee in Chattanooga. In Seaford, he was the Chairman of the building committee that erected St. Johns Methodist Church. He served on many of the various committees of the church He was a lay member of the Board of Ministries of the Peninsula Conference. Harvey was an active member of the Emmaus Movement of the Methodist Church. He served as President of Better Homes of Seaford which built the first public housing development in Sussex County.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his first wife, Wilma, his twin sister Mary Ann and a brother, James.

In addition to his children, he is survived by his wife, Suzanne, 6 Grandchildren and 14 Great-Grandchildren

A private burial service will be held.
