Janis Marie "Jan" (Rippy) Dixon

January 30, 1949 - December 15, 2023

Jan Marie Dixon, née Rippy, a vibrant soul whose compassion for community and unwavering faith illuminated her path, passed away peacefully on December 15, 2023, surrounded by family and caring leaders and sisters of the church. Born on January 30, 1949, in Wichita Falls, Texas, Jan's adventurous spirit saw her journey across the country with her beloved husband, Richard, exploring every state except Hawaii by motorcycle and RV.

A true daughter of the outdoors, Jan was an avid hunter, a competitive shooter, and a skilled horse trainer. Her talent extended beyond the rugged landscape, for her green thumb brought forth magnificent gardens, blooming with beauty and yielding generous harvests of coveted zucchini breads, salsas, and canned vegetables that warmed the hearts of many. Jan's love for animals shone brightly in her affection for their loyal canine companions.

Jan proudly emblazed the Maroon of Texas A&M as part of the Class of 1971. Her entrepreneurial spirit was ever present through her life, leading her to pioneer ventures like Dixon Global Solutions, Inc., and Essential Oils by Jan. In 1978, she embarked on a fulfilling career at Exxon Mobil in Beaumont, where her dedication and skill propelled her through the ranks to become a Console Shift Operator at the time of her retirement in 2008, she began as a member of the labor gang.

Jan and Richard's commitment to their community extended beyond their home - they both proudly served as Firefighter and EMT with the Labelle Fannett Volunteer Fire Department. Her faith also remained a cornerstone of her life, with Jan's musical talents gracing the organ and keyboard of the Ballinger Texas Catholic Church, where she diligently served as secretary for Saint Mary Star of the Sea. Her devotion to helping others compelled her to devote time to blood donation programs, ensuring others could experience the gift of life.

Leaving behind a tapestry of love and adventure, Jan's legacy will continue to inspire. She is survived by her son, Michael Fergus, and a loving family that includes Jans siblings: Lanny Rippy and Mary Blanton; sisters-in-law: Deborah Pretty and Sonya Dixon; nieces: Amy Allen, Kim McGyver, and Lana Zirkel; nephews: Michael Pretty, Scott Blanton, Jimmy Blanton, Scott Nutt, and Billy Nutt; and countless extended family, friends and neighbors who enriched her life.

A Rosary will be held at 6:00 PM CST on Thursday, January 4, 2024, at the Winters Funeral Home in Winters, TX. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 2:00 PM on Friday, January 5, 2024, at Mount Carmel Catholic Church in Winters, TX, with burial at Wingate Cemetery.

Jan will be deeply missed, but her memory will forever linger in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. May we find joy in remembering her vibrant life and seek peace in God our Savior, as she wished.

Rest in peace, Jan Marie Dixon. Your compassionate spirit and unwavering faith continue to inspire.
